So, replaced the tires after 25,000 miles. I think I did a good job getting miles out of the things while doing some casual Autocross every now and then. Anyways, I upgraded to the Super Sports on Thursday. Looking forward to some of the warmer days before spring really kicks in so that I can push the tires a bit and see the difference. Has any one of you people upgraded to this tire and seen a significant difference in handling? This is kind of important for me because I'm not looking for speed out of this car. I'm looking for handling.

Side note: These tires are summer tires, but we don't get much/any snow in the Seattle area, so all I have to deal with is cold, so I just take it a little slower in the winter on my summer tires.

I would not use them below 40F. I used to be stationed in Everett and know the temps get low. Summer tires become hard in close to freezing temps and lose grip.

Sent from another garage.

I have some Michelin Pilot Super Sports wrapped on some Enkei TS9's that I'll be putting on in the spring/summer time. Interested to see how they'll feel as well.

That's why I went with Pilot Sport AS3's. In my very humble, personal, opinion...this tire will handle anything you can throw at it on the street, no matter how aggressive you think you drive on the street. If you're pushing more than these tires can take on any windy road, aggressive driving...you're pushing it too far on the street. Take that &*#$ to the track. Then you have the benefit of not having to worry about colder months or swap out seasonally.

I think some of you guys are freaking out a little bit too much about the words "winter" and "summer tire" here. It normally doesn't go below freezing in my area but a few times during the day in past history. Lately the weather has been high 30's to high 40's. It does drop down overnight, but my car is garage kept and doesn't see the totality of the temperature drop. Although this isn't even the recommended temps to run the tires, I ran the F1's the same and it was fine. Besides, if there ever is snow, I always switch to driving my Edge, so this is a non-issue. This is getting a bit off track.

Anyways, for those who have answered the question as far as performance difference, thank you. Lol

Idk, I've done like 60 consistently around on ramps on the F1's and only felt the limitations of the tires. I don't know if the car itself could handle much more beyond that.

almost every sports car manufacturer uses PSS from the factory because they are so versatile in most weather conditions and still perform. Im installing a set next week myself.

Commonly top rated Max Summer tire, I think unless you go with a full blown extreme tire (which will get you <10,000 mile wear life and be expensive) you won't beat the PSS. I'll be ordering a set soon for spring.

Just to point out, that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is due in March/April to be the new tire to dethrone the MPSS.

That said, loving my current set of Super Sports. Went with 245/40-18 instead of the stock size.

It may also mean that the Super Sports prices drop about 20-30%
Hmm...to wait until March/April to purchase or purchase sooner and have them on for the turn of spring when it warms up to ditch the winter setup....hmm....
