I want to upgrade my clutch so I'm ready for any future mods like big turbo and going to the track. I was wondering what else I can change out while I'm in there so I dont have to drop the trans again and just get it done in one go. Already have the clutch and flywheel Thanks in advance. This is for a 2016 Focus ST

I like my ACT HD clutch and factory flywheel. I added an mfactory lsd while i was in there. I’m now on a 2867 turbo and 35k miles in on that clutch, maybe 10k of that with the turbo.

you could go to a lighter flywheel too, but i didnt want to change drivability too much from stock
I have the ACT HD clutch ready to go in. Does your lsd take away the torque steer as much as people say

ACT is a nice choice. I really want the lightweight flywheel (when it's time, not for another month or so) for RPM quickness, but as mitch mentioned there have been several reports about increased NVH with lightweight flywheels.

LSD's should have come stock from the factory. I finally got a WaveTrac sitting in the garage after waiting since September '21 (arrived less than 2 weeks ago). Other brands were available though.

Oh, and Overlord is the bomb! New season in July 👹

Albedo's English voice actor signed the interior. Have you heard anything about the Quaife ATB Differential on mountunes website

Nice!

Well, just type "lsd" into the search box on this site... Too much stuff popped up for me to even try, lol. Plenty of discussions and what not, but aside from the MFactory, Quaife, & WaveTrac; there was another one that is an actual clutch type LSD and it cost three times as much... Coming up with a blank to what it is, but if I had that much money I wouldn't be driving a Focus ST, ROFL

you might be thinking OS Giken?

that said wavetrac is its own design, quaife and mfactory are the same lsd type and then there is OS Giken. You cant beat the value if the mfactory unit.

there are minor differences, but only for the serious racers on tracks and tight courses.

Also, would be a good time to replace the synchro's and inspect the shift forks. That paired with an LSD and upgraded clutch, you shouldnt have to touch the trans again. I would also suggest replacing the slave that is inside the case too, one less thing to fail. Then if you want to be really thorough, go ahead and proactively replace the master cylinder and might as well delete the stock clutch lines and go with a ss braided one :)

I believe Mfactory will do a package deal on their lsd and synchro's too, so if you are good with their lsd you can save some money (any lsd is going to be a nice improvement over oem.) Reach out to them on this site MFactory Competition Products (i am not at all affliated with them nor do i run their lsd but just throwing them out there as a combo to save some money :))

Wavetrac allegedly is the best way to go with an LSD upgrade (I do not speak from experience, it should be noted).

I plan to pick one of those up as I hear they're the only one to actually put power to both wheels (or something like that; the wisdom dudes here can certainly chime in).

When I end up upgrading the trans, I'll go carbon synchros, Wavetrac LSD, Clutch Masters 725 with steel flywheel, and ... I think that's it. Replacing the slave cylinder and popping a steel clutch line seems like a good idea too.

Not exactly cheap but I've spent my money on far worse and just as expensive things. :'(

@itssocoldinthe there is only one scenario I’m aware of where wavetrac is better, but imo, it may not justify the price for the average daily driver.

When you have one tire with zero grip, lets say you got off track taking a turn wide and the wheel went on the dirt, and you may have a zero load situation.

wavetrac would still drive both wheels. Mfactory/quaife would only drive the wheel with traction. To solve that, tap the brakes in that instance.

Does that justify the almost 2x price increase? Thats up to you to decide. Any LSD is a win imo.

This right here. Unless you are some magic track wizard that can go bombing off of every track sausage in attempts at clipping the perfect apex, you probably won't ever see the 1 wheel zero grip situation unless you put yourself in that situation to begin with.

Yeah, the OS Gilken was the one I was thinking of. Thanks! It was overheating my head, lol.
I believe the WaveTrac was $900 shipped while on President's Day sale or something. Mfactory is just under $700 normally, so picking one up during a sale would be much more cost effective.

It's always best to get everything done at once if you're dropping the tranny ;)

I don't have any yet, I read the Quaife is a little biding a low speed, like turning to a parking spot. MFactory is the best deal for your $$. WaveTrac claim better behavior on and off the gas pedal. I'll probably go the WaveTrac way in the future.

As long as you get the metal version, none.
Literally the same. Writeup coming as soon as I can get my lazy ass in gear. Uggh. Too much stuff to do.
