is anyone else having issues logging with the x4?

when I load the configuration into the x4 via livelink it works fine as long as I have the laptop plugged it...as soon as I take it off the x4 goes back to the stock settings and wont log the parameters I need...

I really prefer not to have to lug around my laptop, but maybe im messing up.

When you are logging with a laptop and a device, the device is in pass through mode. It only serves as the communicator between the vehicle and the pc. So, this means you are not actually loading anything to the device configuration wise.

If you have a specific list of items you want to log (configuration file) that you have created using livelink, you have to load that file to the device using livelink and the export dlf/dlx button. Once that file is loaded to the device, you can then log on the device only using that configuration file. If that file is not loaded, then as you have seen, you are only presented with the default list of on device configuration files.

AH HA! thats what im doing wrong.

I assumed it automatically loaded it after bwibg connected to the laptop...your a smart cookie blivit...idc what anyone says.

Next question...can you only datalog one at a time without the laptop?

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I am still having an issue with device-only logging.

The Ign Cyl Correction fields are not logging anything.
I am using the custom parameters file from Torrie.

If I hook up my laptop, those parameters log just fine. But device only, they stay at 0.00.

Thanks.

so here is my $.02 feedback.

make an update...would most likely be on future products as it would need some kind of memory and filing system. but to be able to datalog more than one, so we dont have to carry something around with us all the time to take it off. or for those spirited days.

and have a mount with it :)

awsome product and easy to use though.

Yes there is a limit. When logging you will see a red "rec" circle in the center of the screen. That circle has a red progress indicator that travels around it letting you know how long you have to record. The length depends on the vehicle and also the configuration file you have selected (ie the number of items you are logging.)

Thanks. And how do you transfer the file off the x4 to somewhere else so you can take another datalog without overwriting the previous one? Do you need a PC for that? I was looking for no-PC-logging solution.

Ok so I did try this today, configured 8 gauges and started logging with the center button, I saw the red circle appear with the progress indicator. I stopped the logging with the center button again (is that ok?). Now I connected X4 to my laptop, run LiveLink Gen II but it says there is no datalog in the device.

This is the correct procedure. When in livelink, are you selecting the import data button from the top of the screen or using the "I want to retrieve a datalog from a device" from the main screen when the software first opens? What is the version number of the software listed in the upper left corner of the screen?

I have the same issue, I eventually got torrie's file to upload to the device, not sure how but it's on my device now. What I did was unplug the device from the pc and plug it back in once it was recognized I quickly hit the export dlf/dlc button and it somehow worked. Took a couple tries thought I was doing it incorrectly.

seems not many are logging with their sct x4. I ordered torries tunes today (91oct) and id like to start logging (checking my fuel quality as well). Im a bit lost on what perameters i need to monitor, and what they mean. If you could help me out with a basic into id appreciate it man.

thanks

So the x4 and livewire appear to be finicky. Plugging the device in both to export the config file and then to pull the datalog failed the first time I tried. Unplugging then plugging the x4 back in seemed to do the trick to allow me to do both operations.

Now a question, Looks like the datalog I took is actually 6m 45seconds! I thought it wouldn't record until I hit the record button? What's the best way to trim this up?

:edit never mind I see what it did. The timer must start as soon as i started the car up, took me about 6 minutes to get to my flat spot of road I've picked out, the actual log is only 12 seconds long. Time to get some datazap going.

Yes, this is the case for me as well.
