I have an ST1 so no MFT nor navigation. The screen on the iPhone 6 Plus is big enough to use for navigation and Waze. Plus, the Sync voice recognition on the highway is pretty poor with all the air and tyre noise, so being able to hit the home button on the phone to use Siri is sometimes a requirement to make a call.
I don't like taking my eyes off the road while I'm driving, so I wanted a mount for the iPhone 6 Plus that was front and center.
Pillar mounts IMHO are unsafe (airbags), glass mounts are not legal in some states, and the weighted or sticky or vacuum dash-top mounts not only block the view out of the windshield but they don't seem to work all that well -- especially on rough roads (we have some frost heaves now that you could put a ski lift on...).
The ST1 has the CD player up high, so after reading a bunch of reviews I bought a Koomus and have been using it the past few weeks with great success. The ball socket is tight enough that the phone does not change position at all going over bumps, but it's loose enough that if I want to change the phone's orientation from vertical to landscape I can do that with one hand easily.
Hope that helps,
Mark
Here's the obligatory photo taken holding the camera right in front of my face:
