Do you get to pick Santa's outfit most appropriate to breed?Clover has an appointment at Cabela's (Bass Pro Shop) to have her picture taken with Santa Claus.
7 just east of Wichita...crisp!6 F in KCK this morning........
Seems fishy.How is this possible?
In the January 2022 MOTORTREND (pg. 56) they tested/reviewed the 2022 GTI and the Golf R. Both test cars were 6 speed manuals.
The GTI (FWD) with 241 HP ...0-60 6.1 sec. 1/4 =14.6 @ 99.8 mph.
The Golf R (AWD) with 315 HP...0-60 6.3 sec. 1/4 = 14.4 sec @103.3 mph.
When I read that I figured it was just a big editing error by the magazine. But, in the March 2022 MOTORTREND (pg. 22) Your Say section, a reader calls them out regarding the numbers
they published.
Ed's response, "Fix what? The manual Golf R weighs 400 pounds more than the Golf GTI, negating any horsepower and traction advantage it might otherwise have. Those 0-60 times are correct. - Ed."
Actually looking at the article the weights are listed as 3,407 / 3,082 = only 325 not 400 pounds heavier.
So GTI = 12.8 lbs/HP vs Golf R = 10.8 lbs/HP
All that tells me is car and driver needs someone aggressive like me to drive their manuals.Big difference between stick & DCA.
MotorTrend Results...
"Our 2022 Car of the Year contest included manual transmission-equipped versions of the GTI and Golf R. There, the sporty hatchbacks' 0-60 times didn't end up how you might expect: the GTI did it in 6.1 seconds, while the Golf R was slower with a 6.3-second sprint. We brought a dual-clutch automatic Golf R to our 2022 Performance Vehicle of the Year event, where it posted a quick 4.2-second 0-60 time—that's more like it. "
I'd only take the results as valid if they were performed by someone who competes in the UMTR class of drag racing. Those tests were performed by MOTORTREND, not C&D.
