I don't really post on forums, never have. I've been a member since I purchased my car in 2014, but I tend to just keep to myself and read what interests me. I genuinely felt like I needed to write this review however. I placed my order with JST around a month ago, which was promptly followed up by a detailed and nice email from Brian, instead of just some auto generated confirmation. Everything was shipped out and arrived extremely quickly, I was honestly a bit surprised. I finally had a chance to install and everything went great. I will say that the intercooler is a snug fit on this car, so having a helping hand is a huge benefit when getting everything lined up and situated. After install was done I started working back and forth with Brian on the 93 tune, getting it dialed in and working absolutely flawlessly. We started on the E30 immediately after and same thing, results were fantastic. On both it is extremely rare that I see a negative correction, and if there is one it is usually very small. The throttle response is wonderful and there is a noticeable difference from the previous setup I had on the car. I had the opportunity to put my car on a dyno in Houston this weekend and managed to put down 292hp on stock turbo with higher than normal charge and intake temps, which is exactly where I wanted the car to be at this point. I absolutely recommend Brian as a tuner, he seriously does good work and he won't stop working until both of you are satisfied with the results. If you're on the fence and debating between who to go with for a tune, don't hesitate to get in touch with him. Same for their intercooler kit! It is a solid, affordable kit and works very well. I think the most I've seen my temperatures rise above ambient is about 12-15 degrees, and that was with me pushing the car as hard as it will go from 2nd through 5th gear. 5 stars without a doubt. I will definitely work with Brian in the future.

Just to clarify if I'm understanding this correctly from their website. The JST intercooler is just a pre sourced mishimoto intercooler with all the hardware to make it a direct bolt on? Is there any modifications needed in order to mount or does it mount on the stock locations

Correct, it's basically the DIY intercooler setups you see on here, just with a mishimoto core. ATP elbows are included with it. Everything mounts to stock locations. JST also includes brackets that support the intercooler from underneath. I have Depo Racing charge pipes on my car, which ended up pushing outwards just a little onto the metal housing the elbows run through, but it wasnt a huge deal. I eventually ended putting a custom fit silicone elbow in place of the ATP cast elbow straight from the intercooler to the charge pipe on the drivers side. That made everything sit perfect.

I saw your review and went to the JST site to look at this intercooler. Now I'm on the fence about getting this intercooler, my concerns are ease of installation and what aftermarket pipes to use to replace the factory ones. If you can PM me with more info I will really appreciate it. The price on the same is great, since it fits my budget and what I want to accomplish with my ST. Thank you for this review.

It mounts up to the factory location. There are some brackets, but when he did the install there was no drilling required. You can use any charge pipes you want, though there really isnt a new for new charge pipes on the Focus. I have been running this Intercooler for awhile and it performs great. The only time I see the temps rise higher than 15 degrees is when I am sitting in Atlanta Rush hour traffic. After I start moving at 60+mph it really starts to cool back down to 1-2 degrees over ambient cruising.

im actually running this kit on my car also. But even with the stock charge pipes, they rub on that metal housings. ive actually been meaning to take my bumper off again and check to see if theyve been rubbing against eachother. especially considering the rinky dink brackets they made up to hold this heavy intercooler.

to be honest i wasnt a whole lot (at all) impressed by the entire transaction with JST.

Hey LazyBrownDog, Sorry to hear this. I believe i recall the issue you are speaking of and i apologize. We have actually completely revised the kit within the past month or so. the brackets are now heavy duty 1/4 steel with the nuts pre-welded to the brackets. If your're the person im thinking of i beleive i sent you a partial refund due to you having to do some modification yourself. If that wasnt you, please feel free to send us a private message and i will do the same for you :)

No, I dont think i got any refund back from you. Which I never really even considered asking for.lol

My biggest gripe about the whole process was how the kit got shipped to me.

It literally got sent to me in THREE different packages from THREE different carriers (ups, fedex, usps) on THREE different days.

Has the revision to the kit corrected the charge pipe rubbing issue?

Yes, we havent had any complaints (besides the intercooler itself being a little tricky to move into place) since we revised the brackets and hardware.
