alright so this topic was kinda brought up in the thread about the CPE core a few days ago( credit to that OP for the log i stole of the CPE core)

so i was curious to see how all of our vendors cores compared... and well lets just say of the 3 ive seen... one really Falls behind the other Two

Cobb- log starting temp 39.2, 6007 RPM in third gear temp:42.8... 3.6* RISE over a third gear pull
datazap.me | nathanl91 | Freds Cobb core
CPE- log starting temp 40.5, 6002 RPM in third gear temp:39.9.... .6* FALL over a pull
datazap.me | DAM | cobb stage 2 93 octane. CAI+FMIC
Levels- log starting temp 41.2, 6010 RPM in third gear temp 58.8... 17.6* RISE over the pull
datazap.me | nathanl91 | Intercooler
STOCK: 58.1* starting temp ( about 35 ambient) 105.6 at 6022 RPMS third gear... 47.5* rise
http://www.datazap.me/u/nathanl91/randy?log=1&data=4-6

CXR DIY- log starting temp 37.2, 6015 RPM in third gear temp:40.3... 3.1* RISE over a third gear pull
http://datazap.me/u/silver/spark-tuning-hit-ceiling?log=0&data=2-4-5
CXR DIY- log starting temp 79.11, 6019 RPM in third gear temp:84.4... 5.4* RISE over a third gear pull
http://datazap.me/u/silver/hot-air-charge-temp?log=0&data=1-3-4-6-9"

cobb car has TBE and cobb CAI, COBB FMIC/pipes-randys tune
CPE car has atleast CPE FMIC and a CAI
levels car is stock with levels FMIC/pipes-randys tune
stock car just has randys tune

hope this helps you guys decide on a core..
Cobb/levels/stock runs were done in Washington state right near sea level

Awesome! Now the community can get together and compare hard data. It was tough for me switching to a new platform(been a Mustang guy). Hopefully we can all pull together and start comparing real-time numbers with the data logging capabilities of this car.

We need to see some logs from guys running the DIY set ups too.

ATP FMIC: Cobb Stage 2, Cobb Intake

datazap.me | stainlineho | ATP FMIC 3-4 Shift Cobb Stage 2

~20* RISE in charge temps over 3rd gear pull and shift to 4th. I need to get a full 4th gear pull log.

This pull was made at 63F day according to ST temp. I also logged IAT and it starts around 71F and go down to ambiet during the pull. You guys think a FRPP intake snorkel would would improve that?

I'll throw my $128 intercooler in the mix, from my CXR DIY project. This one is close to the starting temp that you guys were running.

CXR DIY- log starting temp 37.2, 6015 RPM in third gear temp:40.3... 3.1* RISE over a third gear pull

And the OP can feel free to add it to the OP, it's not copyrighted :)

It's a cool comparison and all, but there are a lot of other variables not accounted for. I'm running 24psi down low.

I've been stalking for a while and originally decided on Moutnunes MP275(whenever they get CARB approval), or piecing together my own with FSWERKS intake pipe, Levels/or ATP FMIC, and Randys tuning. However, seeing the datalogs from how CPEs FMIC performs I'm curious, just want to verify pressure drop.

The problem with those is the start temp. That 20* in start temp is going to have a huge effect temperature drop. Would be better if they where all at the same temp. I can't rember the formula off hand but. There's a formula that will show the effective change over 2 diff temps. Simply 40 over 200 deg is going to have a greater cooling effect then 60 to 200.

Had anyone pulled a log with a stock intercooler? I've been watching charge temp (although I am not experienced with tuning and trying to learn) today it was around 50* ambient. Just riding around with spirited driving it stayed around 10*-15* above ambient putting the hammer down I saw a spike to 101* but it shot right back down to 10*-20*. Should I be looking at the spike?

I'm not alone....I cant decide and probably wont until I decide to do the turbo upgrade. I'm worried with a bigger FMIC the pressure will drop and my little tiny turbo will have to work harder to flow the same amount of air. I want the upgraded FMIC when I purchase a bigger turbo. PM if you guys have any input on that.

This is from a previous post in my Treadstone TR8 diy thread:

I ran my first datalogs tonight. I drove around for approximately 30 minutes to ensure the car was thoroughly warm and then I ran five back to back logs. I never turned the engine off and I only stopped to save each log and then I immediately started the next.

Ambient air temp: 48f Engine temp: 195f

Over the five runs here are the average charge air temps: Low Temp- 47.6f High Temp- 66.1f

Average temp increase: 18.5f

Lowest temp increase: 15.86f

Highest temp increase: 22.36f

These runs were ran in 4th gear from 2500-6100 on 23psi.

Here is one of the logs: http://www.datazap.me/u/14stred/7?log=0&data=1-2-12-14

Which core was this?

Treadstone TR8 intercooler on my GTX2867R ( 339 whp pull ) This was in 4th gear, on a dyno with fan about 3 feet away. Not the best conditions for testing the intercooler.

Started at 1546 RPM @ 64.6 and ended at RPM 6714 @ 85.8 This was a 4th gear pull. Boost 25/26psi midrange, 27 at redline.

Overall rise.... 21.2

Need a datalog to go with that. CATs are dependent upon a number of variables, boost being a big one.
