Intake temp vs Ambient temp

What are most people seeing as a difference between intake temp and ambient? My intake temp using Cobb intercooler is always 10-12F higher than ambient

That’s normal, intake temp is right after the air filter, the heat from the engine and error in the sensor will cause that.

watch it in traffic or take the lid off the air box should go above 100
Mine usually stays right around ambient when driving. Also I don't really see any difference with or without the lid on the air box.
If you mean the car is parked in a garage overnight and when you key-on (but not start the engine) there's a difference, well the 15+ cars had something screwy in terms of voltage to temp calculation in Cobbs software. Some tuners account for this and some don't.

Is there more than one place to check inlet air temperature? I have read that the sensor is after the air box and I have read that it is after the intercooler.

Charge air temp is after the intercooler. IAT is after the filter. Ambient air temp is bottom of the passenger mirror.

Where is the best place to check them or should I check both?
Ford has an error in the charge temp calculation on the 2015+ which reads +15 F deg higher than intake temp

Mine is 18° off

If I go out in the morning and put my car in accessory mode. My charge air temp will read 18° higher than Ambient. Therefore it's 18° off.

That makes me think we need a tilt meter, then we could see who could get the highest angle without flipping it?! 🤔😳🤣
