Anyone here swap or replace the injectors on their own? Reading through the engine manual it seems that some special tools are required to install and size the Teflon orings. Short of buying the tools is there a way to do it without?

The new injectors probably come with the teflon seals installed. The Vw Audi injectors do

I've been thinking of changing mine also but I think it may take a small slide hammer tool to remove them. The Audi tool uses a screwtype extractor but the older fsi stuff had a small slide hammer also as part of the special tool kit

I don't know if they come with seals or not but it would be cool if so. Another reason it would be cool is the second tool is one that smashes the seal back down after being expanded during installation. The engine manual states that you need to install within 15 minutes of what they call resizing or the Teflon will start to expand. This sounds way more complicated than it needs to be.

I'm also under the impression that once the rail is removed they just pull out. Maybe its me wishfully thinking so. All I have access to is the engine assembly guide which is where I've got this information from so far.

I want to replace mine just because of carbon and having fresh injectors. I'm almost to 70,000 miles also. But I have an engine at home that still has the injectors in it and they don't pull out easily lol

I got my new genuine Ford injectors and they did come with all seals and ready to install.

I also ordered a genuine Ford seal kit and it came with instructions on installing the injectors
I scanned the instructions and will post them here later. Looks very straight forward.

Going to attempt to tackle the swap this weekend.

$76 a piece or for all 4? And what did it take to remove them? On most Audi's they come out in the rail.

Tasca is selling them for $80.67 each.

Rail comes off and just took a twist and pull to get the injector out. They are not clipped to the rail at all. I'll do a write up but it's a easy job if you're comfortable pulling the intake.

Looking forward to your write-up. Glad it went well, I was thinking about swapping mine out and getting the old ones cleaned.

i would love a quick write up. im swapping my injectors right now and they are not installing correctly into the engine. new part number on the injectors and with BB instead of BA on my stock ones. im confused.
If you ordered them from a legitimate store (as in not ebay or something like that) than I wouldn't worry about that much.

And btw, this post is about 15 months old, don't expect a response from the OP.

Here's a link I found using the search feature on here that may be helpful to you.

I ordered injectors that matched my vin from tasca with the part number of bb5e-9f593-b. I pulled my stock injectors that had bb5e-9f593-ba on them. The new injectors that i received were bb5e-9f593-bb. They didnt seat flush but i continued with installed and everything seems fine. This is what they look like. Auto part Metal Tool accessory
