This poll is directed at only those who own or have owned a 2013-14 Ford Focus ST. I am conducting research to assess the performance and satisfaction with the stock motor mounts found on the 2013-14 Ford Focus ST.

Please vote and if you choose, leave a brief comment. Please leave any opinion you would like reagrding your satisfaction or dis-satisfaction with the product. If you have had a problem, please describe the symptom and what you have done and the associated costs to compensate for the problem. Please make your comments brief but explanatory.

EDIT: DISCLAIMER: I am a Focus ST owner and believe Ford has installed a faulty part in my new car. I have been unable to enjoy the car as advertised and am disastisfied with the manner in which Ford has attempted to address the problem. I have heard little of this problem outside of these forums. No one in the press is responding or has indicated there is a problem. Unless we respond en-masse and document the widespread dis-satisfaction, there will be little incentive for Ford to remedy the problem or others like it in the future. Now is your chance to let them know.

There is no poll fyi.

But i still have the stock mount and very disappointed, especially when ford already had something in there arsenal to beef it up some. I realize there is always a learning curve with first gen type stuff, but still.

I agree... I probably won't bother pushing for a warranty repair on these. The problem really only presents itself if I punch it from a dead stop or REEALLLLY wind out second gear. Should I ever decide to start autocross racing or something like that a new motor mount would be the first on my list of improvements.

The poll doesn't have my option.

Stock mounts were crap, a big problem, and I bought and replaced the rear and passenger side mounts with the TSB mounts on my own, and the car is fine now.

Dealer ordered the parts in June (is that right?) and they all came in a couple weeks ago, but while we were talking he realized that a part was missing. I think someone took it and used it for another car. I have already replaced the RMM with one from the electric Focus so it's not as bad but it needs more work. I may do the tranny mount myself soon.

Or not so patiently!

People should actually read whats in the TSB. It's not just a RMM, so buying an aftermarket is not equivilant to the TSB. According to the people on this forum who have had the TSB done, they are very happy and there are many who have ditched their aftermarket RMM in lieu of the replaced unit. Mine is on order so I can only allude to those who have posted about their replacements.

No endorsement of a particular vendor is intended.

I rode in the Steeda Focus ST the other day, and one thing I have not seen mention was the additional control of front end lift under acceleration that their mounts provide. I assume any vendors aftermarket parts provide this as well. My stock ST seems like the mounts are shot and the front lifts what feels like a foot when the boost kicks in.

The eFocus mount is a huge improvement over stock, and doesn't increase NVH. It's not as solid as some after market mounts, but is still very effective. The passenger side upper mount is as much of a joke as the stock rear mount. I replaced both with the ones from the TSB (eFocus and revised upper) - it helped a great deal and I can't get the car to bang anymore.

This poll should have included us who have replaced just the RMM and are happy now. I myself have never had the bang, then again I replaced the RMM within the first 3 weeks knowing about the MM issue.

i am waiting on the TSb to be done...parts arent in until late October "huge maybe"....my car bangs hard...i want to drive this car hard at times and wont due to this bang...Ive been waiting since July.

Isnt the tsb replace the clutch cable too? For those that have changed the rmm, umm, and trans mount, there was no need for the clutch cable parts?

I have no faith in the techs down here at the ford dealerships and i am pretty close to just ordering my own mounts....probably going to go with steeda. But would this affect our warranty?

Anyhow, i am dissappointed with ford taking so long to get these parts in...i have told cuistomer service that i'd like to just buy my own mounts but they said it would void my warranty which i think is a crock of sh*t!

Must just be my car or commute then I guess. It's not violent like I've hear the aftermarket ones to be but the vibration when at idle particularly over a certain over pass on the way to work in the morning or when first starting off seems harsher than stock. Most of the time I'd agree though that there isn't too much extra NVH, but occasionally it seems to rear its head on my car now after the mount change. I can't say I recall feeling that in the first 6000 or so miles as much as I did after the TSB mounts went it.

I'm going that aftermarket route myself... they're cheap enough and I can do the mod at my convenience. With the TSB route, the dealer has to verify the problem first (one appointment with someone else beating on my car) and then another appointment to install it (and most likely another beating). If someone's going to beat on my car, I'd rather it be me. :big smile:

I talked them out of them beating on my car, or having me show them, took a little while but they agreed no safe area around the dealership for such a test.
