I know it says stage 2 is for intercooler and intake, but I read that aftermarket intakes don't perform better than stock. Wouldn't I be able to run stage 2 on the stock intake then as long as I have an intercooler?

Technically you don't need any tune when you have two items installed that help's take in cooler air. Its just a better breather system.
However a tune will "waken" the car up slightly depending on what tune you use.
This is just my opinion, I wouldn't run a off the shelf tune. But for a budget car/(build) go for it, keep your eye on AP gauges.:big smile:

Yes you can run Cobb 'Stage 2' with just an intercooler. 'Stage 1' is not the intake, it's the air filter actually. For a non BT, you don't need to change your intake. You can replace your air filter for a high flowing one but even then that has its upsides and downsides but it adds a nice sound.

Conclusion: You can run Cobb 'Stage 2' as long as you installed an aftermarket intercooler.
