As we all know, adding power to a fwd car can be frustrating. After tuning, I was to the point where I would spin tires in 1st and 2nd easily if I wasn't careful. It was becoming extremely annoying to the point where I was thinking about returning to stock. I know some people love the challenge of getting the power to the ground on a fwd car but I hated it.

Recently flashed the stratified 7.1 tune which has the option to have Cobb TC. Best decision I have ever made as far as mods go. I can now literally punch the gas in 1st without any wheelspin. The Cobb TC makes constant real time adjustments to get as much power possible to the ground without spinning the wheels. It's incredible. Some people might think stock TC does the same thing, but no, absolutely not even close. Stock TC doesn't even really work. It's hard to explain, but the Cobb TC just gets all the power possible without spinning. You can floor the car in any gear without having to worry about wheelspin at all. You can come out of corners full throttle without having to worry about wheelspin. An amazing feeling.

Love my car all over again. Will never drive it without Cobb TC anymore.

Ya. I've been raving about it since I got it after its release. I'm able to floor it in second with a big turbo pushing north of 400whp with no trouble. I haven't tried first, but just having second and up is amazing in itself at these power levels with stock tires and wheels.

I've heard a lot about how awesome it is with launching and straight line driving, but almost nothing about how it affects cornering and dynamic driving. I've been considering it for when I eventually put a tune on my car, but I'm definitely more of a corner carver and very rarely launch the car. I don't want really want to spend the extra money to add it to a tune if I'm never going to see the benefit of it. Any impressions on how it affects the car in cornering? Is it even worth getting if I'm not big turbo?

The first thing to remember is that all the Ford traction control stuff is still there; Cobb TC is an overlay on top of the Ford programming.

For example, before Cobb TC on snow and other loose surfaces, I found that in Ford Normal mode the traction control was pretty good but too much, and I could definitely feel the brake pulsing to keep the wheels from spinning. With Ford Sport Mode, I found one wheel would really slip an awful lot, requiring throttle modulation to maintain decent traction. But doing that modulation was not always easy - and I'm a former rally driver so I have lots of practice at this. I felt like I was always "chasing" the programming.

Now, I just put the car in Sport Mode all the time and let Cobb TC do its job. It's smoother (especially off the line) and so less abusive to the car. Modulation is easier and (you have to ask for it) I can also left foot brake now too.

I'll wait for winter to put the Stratified version of Cobb TC through its sideway paces; there are tables for steering angle and yaw sensor outputs and possibly Stratified will have some improvements based on customer feedback in slippy conditions, like track racing in the rain.

Best regards to all,
Mark

Our cars are torque monsters, so yes its beneficial. Im sitting above 362 wtrq since my last dyno, which roasts the crap out of tires. Still Stock turbo. Traction will always be an issue with a torquey FWD setup. Wintertime it should pay off big, with no regard to spirited performance.

How does one get "cobb TC"

I have stage 1 ots tune v400 i believe. Do I have to do anything to enable it? Or do I already have it
You don't have it with Cobb ots tune. Stratified is the only one I know of who has it available so far in their OTS tune. I believe you can get it in custom tunes with other tuners, but not OTS.

Welp, sounds like I need to update to 7.1. I was going to try and hold out for a couple tune updates but I never seem to make it, lol.

Pretty sure catless downpipe is required and any modifications to catback will allow for more sound/volume out the tips.
I don't think it's required anymore, but it will probably damage the stock ceramic cat. I had MBRP exhaust and an ocdspeed 200 cell downpipe and it definitely rattled that system lol. I love it though

I recently got my 7.1 E30 tune from Stratified with Cobb Traction Control. I also have an MFactory LSD, and I can tell you it is now time for more power. I have been battling the same traction issues after my first tune. Getting power to the ground in 1st-2nd was very difficult. I got the LSD first, and it help a bunch when the wheel was turned, but made the stock traction control very intrusive, and in sport mode it would spin both tires. With both of them the car now feels like it can use all the power it has. I will say that 3rd gear does feel stronger than 2nd, so it is definitely pulling a decent amount of power in 2nd to get the power down.

Now it's time to save up and go big turbo...

You guys are giving me a little bit of hope for this car. I've been very quickly losing interest in it since I'm unable to tune it still--all the while my Accessport is collecting dust in some corner of my garage. I contacted Stratified and asked them to update my tune for this new traction control jazz. If it ends up being as solid as everyone makes it out to be, I'll considering going further with this car. If not, then most likely it'll get replaced if Cobb doesn't come out with the strategy for my car or I'm just flat disappointed.

I'm shocked Cobb still hasn't been able to get the tune going for your car.
