Nice write up, but I'd like to make a note that removing the shift boot from the trim is unnecessary unless you plan on replacing the boot. You just need to remove the shift knob and the whole thing will slide off over the shift lever, and you can disconnect the reverse lockout at that point. Makes re-installation a bit easier.

Also, I'd suggest placing blue painters tape underneath the airbag light before popping it off to avoid marring the trim beneath it, without leaving any residue. And a little dab of a soft adhesive or RTV silicone is handy for holding the solid bushings together before reinstalling the shifter base if threading a bolt doesn't work.

Thanks for the tips! I agree, the boot definitely shouldn't come off of the trim unless you're replacing it, it's much more trouble than you'd need to go through.

The blue tape and RTV are good ideas, I'll have to do that if I ever do this again.
