Hi guys,

I'm a forum noob, but not an ST noob. I've had my Late 2008 ST3 since 2009. The car has never missed a beat until recently. I've had an engine malfunction message and the car drops all power; it will creep along but that's it.

I live in Cyprus, so there is no specialist on hand. My local mechanic doesn't know what the problem is but he was told by an auto electrician it was the instrument cluster.

The car has only done 40,000 miles, just had a new battery a week before it died. It's not my everyday car, hence the 40k miles. It has been service up to twice a year the whole time I've had it.

I've run out of ideas.

Any advice would be very much appreciated as I'd like to get her back on the road!

Thanks,

Davey

40k miles? My 2015 has 45k miles. I think your car is sad that it isn't driven enough :(

Just kidding.

Can you scan for any error codes?

You put a battery in, then it dies. Was the correct battery installed? Did the installer short out your system during install?

Best way is to pull the OBD error codes with a simple scanner. It will guide you into the right direction. That would be my suggestion.

Thanks guys, the error codes were cleared, not sure what they read. What kind of battery should it have, could it be under powered?
