Hhm What does this button do?

Hello, everybody!

I just got my 2018 Ford Focus ST Line, the new model, and I came across this mysterious button (see picture). I have no clue what it does, and it doesn't seem to be from Ford itself.

Does anyone have any idea?

Greetings
Shane!

Self destruct button?
Self destruct button?
Hahah still going strong
Typically a three way rocker switch like that is for aftermarket heated seats or similar (high/off/low.) Not sure what you would mount to the steering column that needs it, even steering wheel heater, you just need on/off. Might need to do some tracing of the wires and see where they go.

Well damn, that's a nice mystery aftermarket button. It resembles the material of the steering column exactly to look almost stock but no way it is.

That's for sure! They have incorporated it nicely. It is definitely wired, but I can't quite see exactly where it goes.
P is to outrun police, Z is to outrun horde of zombies, W is for running in water, simple really.

Are you in the Netherlands and is this switch in Dutch?
Or polish maybe

Haha yes I live in the Netherlands. We may have a possible solution. Possible there was a black box for recording miles of the car. The switch wat to choose what kind of miles the car made.
P - Private
Z - Business
W - Work

The only thing is that Business and Work are maybe the same thing.

so just a theory

well, i would never have guessed that but i guess it could work lol. It would have to be hooked up to the obd2 port then?

now, the only Dutch I know, zeer bedankt for following back up with a possible explanation!
Google translate, English to Polish:

Turn on - Puścić

No guesses that translate to a "z" word comes to mind.

off - Wyłączony

But generally these switch have 2 on settings, top and bottom (P and W), with the middle being off (Z). Usually one is high and one is a low setting.

If it was for extra lights that were removed, Z could be for flash?

That could be possible indeed!
Haha and a new Dutch thing; Graag gedaan = Your welcome 😂

At first, I thought about that too, but we couldn't find any evidence of possible lights anymore. It could be, for example, that P, Z, W represent flash paterns?
If It's factory, it will be in the Owner's Manual Ford EU - Select your country. If it's aftermarket, a (Dutch or perhaps German) web search should turn up what it does. 2018 Focus ST's made in Detroit don't have that switch and the handle for adjusting the steering wheel height is different as well. Do you really have a 2018 or is it the new one not made in USA? See the US model in the picture <-.

It's a Euro spec ST Line, as indicated in the OP.
