Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum so I'm here to introduce myself. I'm from Utah and while I currently don't own an ST I'm hoping to be able to join the party soon and buy one. I just first need to find a nice one for sale. I test-drove an ST that belongs to a friend of mine a couple of months ago and I just fell in love with the ST. It's the most fun I have ever had driving a car. But I guess that's not saying much considering I'm coming from a 2001 Honda civic. Anyways I hope I can join you all soon. I look forward to learning from you all. Here's a pic of Ronda the Honda in all her glory

Welcome!

That Ronda won't get the ST out of your heart 😉

Took me a few years to get one after I first noticed them and test drove a couple, when the price for the year I wanted matched and I had time to seriously look.

Good luck!

Ditto. They're finally coming down out of the stratosphere. The RS's are still way up there however.

There's about a dozen for sale around me from scary cheap to what they probably got MSRP when new.

Thank you! I really hope that I can get into one in the next few months. I would love to do some springtime road trips. Hopefully it won't take me years to find one

This is good to hear. I'm really hoping the used market continues to improve. It seems like around me that all of the STs I see for sale are either rebuilt titles or ST1s. I'm hoping to get at least an ST2 but preferably an ST3. RSs are crazy, I wanted one until I saw how much they are going for. I'm going to have to leave the RS as a dream for a later date.

Welcome! The ST is a blast to drive, and begs for mods.

There are 2 low really nice low mileage examples for sale in the classifieds of this forum right now. A 2014 and a 2016. Once you have 10 posts you can contact those people. Please don't post-bomb just to get there, though.

Thanks for the info. Just for clarification what counts as a post? Is it like new threads created or is it comments? Sorry, I'm new to all of this.

Not new threads (topics), just every comment you make, that's a post.

I would look for something that has been lightly modded. Reason being they can tend to get discounted some as most average buyers want bone stock. I’d stay away from salvage unless your a mechanic.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to be staying away from the salvaged ones for the moment. But lightly modded sounds like a good way to go. What are some of the most common mods people do to their STs? I've seen a couple of people mentioning intercooler so I'm guessing that's one of the most important immediate upgrades.

This is very good advice. I myself fell into this trap, likely passing on some great deals enroute to purchasing the stock example I eventually found. I ended up putting most of the same mods on my car over time.

Same here, although the "bone stock" car the dealer sold me wasn't... 3" catted DP, resonator delete, missing bolts in various places, cross threaded bolts on the intake hold down, broken bolts on the shifter inside the cabin, evidence of it having a rear strut tower brace, no rear cargo cover, etc...
Unfortunately I was pretty ignorant of what to look for at the time, so I just took it for what they said. In the end it worked out and I did get a good deal on a car with only 7000 miles, but it definitely wasn't stock... The previous owner did an extremely shoddy job of putting it back together and it was obvious he/she was a ham-fisted moron. On the flip side, the dipstick obviously didn't hurt anything in that first 7000 miles of ownership as it's been trouble-free for the almost 59k miles I've had it since then.

Where at in Utah? If you're close to Salt Lake, message @addpsi on Instagram or on Facebook.
He's a employee of graveyard performance.
He used to live about 30 minutes from me and has quite a bit of ST knowledge and can show you the ropes and things to look out for.

Currently has a Evo 10 and 14' ST3 (or st1? Idk)

Exactly same thing happened to me lmao
I had spent the day frustrated and 3 hours away from home looking for a clean title car. I was just about ready to give up and go home when I stumbled upon a listing for a 16 OW ST3 with a clean title

I hurried over and made it just before the dealer closed convinced I had found the one lol. They claimed "she's a virgin" and me being ignorant of what to look for on these cars bought it 😂😂

I quickly discovered she wasn't no virgin when I went to do an oil change. I found the Cobb RMM, symposer delete, and the stock intercooler reinstalled w/ zip ties!! Along with several missing pins and bolts in the front and rear bumpers. Awesome lmao

Looking back I'm kind of glad I didn't notice because seeing that would've probably steered me away from an otherwise great car.

All in all I agree with not shying away from a lightly modded car because you will likely end up doing the exact same mods

I ended getting a great deal on a clean title (which is rare these days) ST3! I just had to take some time to undo a little bit of shoddy demodding
