Not a Focus ST question.
Fiesta ST.
But you guys may be able to help.
Can you tell with Forscan if a car has a tune?
We bought our daughters Fiesta ST used. We were told it has a mountune 230 kit on it. It has all the parts and just a cable to attach to the OBD port. No AP came with the car. I want to know if the car really has a tune. How can I tell?

This is from another thread on here. " Couple more ways to check for a tune. With the car on, press cancel on the cruise and watch your tach. If it goes to exactly 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, it is indicating the slot. Or, put the car in first, press the clutch in and quickly floor the accelerator, it the revs hit 2500 or 3000 and stay, this would indicate a tune with launch control. Of course don't bang it off the rev limiter a bunch!"

I tried the rev limiter idea before posting this and it doesn't have that. I will never get the mountune AP for the car.
The car has a rebuild title so warranty not an issue. This also the reason I know i can't get the AP because they guy that did the work doesn't have it and never got it when he bought the car.
I wonder if I can give my VIN number to Mountune and if they have a record?

This will tell you if there is anything other than a stock map, but it could have OTS maps stored in those slots. You don't know what has been placed in these slots. It could be valet mode.

You really need the AP that they used to install a map (if there is one). The AP has your factory settings stored on it. So you could flash it back yo stock whenever you want to. Or before you take it to the stealership for recalls or any work

It looks like the Fiesta ST's have overboost up to/around 21psi for 10 seconds, then tapers to 13psi. The COBB stage 1 & 2 are both at 21.5psi, so that's not gonna work (almost identical). Was hoping to help out... 10 seconds of boost would put me through a billboard, lol.

Hopefully they uninstalled the AP properly if they didn't include it with the car.

If you're not worried about the warranty, you could just have a Ford dealership scan it real quick, or even a Ford performance type shop with the proper scanner. I don't know if FORscan can do that or not though... I've only done a few things with that program, but it's impressively powerful tool to code your own car.

We've learned on r/FocusST that there's a way around it!

When you first install the Cobb AP it will ask if you want to backup your 'factory ECU data.' You want to press NO on that. Then when you go to uninstall the AP it will install factory ECU data that Cobb has pre-installed on the AP. Boom, you're on an actual stock tune! :)
