Well it actually isn't mind blowing because it all bolts up because it is interchangeable. Just a matter of making it hold up to some of the power levels in these newer setups.
Holding up to the power is not an issue; there are plenty of big turbo ST's making 400-500 hp and more. The issue is that the only thing that is truly interchangeable is the engine/transmission. The fuel tanks are in different locations (the ST's is under the back seat where the drive line would need to go), the rear differential will not bolt in so the sub-frame would need much fabrication and I would imagine most of the electronics don't match. Now, if someone had an RS engine/trans/differential, all of the electronics, excellent fabrication skills, lots of time and patience and a large budget for all of the incidentals, it could be feasible.

Yeah that was how I deduced it also once I saw it was @MattB16teg knowing he's a Honda guy and he replied to a comment about CRVs. I WISH it was that freaking easy lol

mhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I used to want one so bad! I love them still.

There was just a sweet 323 awd/turbo on Bring a Trailer, didn't see what it ended up selling for.

So, if I was to just ignore all the remaining sane parts of my brain that tell me that converting the ST to AWD is not worth it and is too expensive and time consuming to do correctly, then I may look into purchasing a salvage 2004-2012 Volvo S40 and a salvage 2000-2006 escape. I could get lucky and have both near by for around $2000 each. But what worked for the mk1 St may not work for the mk2, so it's a pretty expensive gamble to purchase two salvaged cars and and just hope for the best. Is there a website that gives dimensions for car parts? The Ford website does provide the parts but does not include dimensions.

Has no one converted to AWD?? I see several civics that stole parts from the CRVs, which to me is mind blowing the amount work that takes. Yet, I haven't seen any AWD STs. I guess since there's no old RSs laying around in junk yards it's difficult to get parts? Seems too obvious to me that converting to AWD would be one of the first things to do performance wise, so I must be missing something. I know tons of us have thought about it. Any one actually do it, or spent more time than me researching it that can provide some good discussion?
In theory it shouldn’t be too too bad. Yes it would cost a good amount but I don’t see it adding up to cost more than the value of the RS. There are totaled RSs in lots of Pick N Pulls around California. If you consider how much you can get those parts for, with a bit of searching you should be able to strip off your own oem exhaust, fuel tank, and drivetrain from the RS, and then just a wee bit of fabrication and Dyno testing and you should be set. I’ve been considering this for a long time and I honestly think it’s doable, but man hours are gonna add up for sure, so make sure to have a DD for while you’re working the project.

this idea has crossed my mind a lot and I’ve considered wanting to attempt this. You know @Duece McCracken since my favorite past time activity is dropping my trans Lmao. Only issue is to find a wrecked RS for cheap lol. I actually had this exact same conversation with my wife last night. And she was like well Atleast finish the other two projects first before I fund this idea.
