FRPP Exhaust Failure.

So Tuesday night on my way home from work I was on the interstate doing about 70 when I hit a small bump in the road. All of the sudden my exhaust got extremely loud. I pulled over at the next exit and checked it out. The flange that meets the downpipe had broken off at the welds. When i realized that there was no serious issue, I drove the rest of the way home and took it to a shop to be re-welded.

My car is a 2016 ST1, I had the exhaust installed by Ford at about 5k miles and it has about 25k now.

If you look at the pics included, it looks as though the welds were bad as it broke off cleanly at the flange.

I have already contacted FRPP about the issue, it seems to be going well so far. I sent a few pictures and I am now awaiting a response.

Just thought I would share with you guys, and see what your opinions are. Auto part Tire Vehicle brake Brake Automotive wheel system

Wow! That's a horrible weld! I just purchased the same exhaust I'm gonna give a good look before installing it...Good luck and thx.

Not enough penetration on the weld or something? That's awful...especially from FRPP...I'd expect much better coming straight from them.

Yeah I'd check it over and make sure everything is good before installing. So far FRPP has been great with customer service.

I'm pretty sure it was just a bad weld that some how slipped through their QC department. I haven't heard of too many of their parts failing.
Might as well be hot glued.

Sorry for your troubles bud.

Yeah certainly not the general consensus on their parts. Guess you were the unfortunate receiver of a lemon.

Yeah, every retailer has a bad part now and then, luckily it looks like I will be getting a replacement shipped to me.

Thanks for the concern. Got it welded back up by a local exhaust shop, hopefully it holds this time :haha:

So do you have to send in your current one? Or are you welded up now and getting a whole new system? I'd honestly not mind that outcome, if all I had to do is get the flange welded back

Haven't got anything official yet, but the rep that i was talking to said that they will most likely send out a new exhaust after they review the pictures i sent them. I wont mind getting a new exhaust, not that i wanna go through the hassle of installing it. I'd honestly rather be sent a new shifter or something.

These requests get sent to Borla (The Supplier) and they will send out a replacement pipe for that section.

What I was getting at is I'd just weld the current and sell the new system for $$$. Looks like you'll just get a mid pipe tho :disappointed:

That was my plan. But i dont think anyone will buy just a mid pipe.
I was a MIG/TIG welder for 20 yrs, that is a cold weld and a crappy looking one at that. Might have been a new trainee at the factory or a malfunctioning robotic welder, if they use them.
UPDATE***

2 weeks in with no word on what they are going to do.
