Wow! That's a horrible weld! I just purchased the same exhaust I'm gonna give a good look before installing it...Good luck and thx.So Tuesday night on my way home from work I was on the interstate doing about 70 when I hit a small bump in the road. All of the sudden my exhaust got extremely loud. I pulled over at the next exit and checked it out. The flange that meets the downpipe had broken off at the welds. When i realized that there was no serious issue, I drove the rest of the way home and took it to a shop to be re-welded.
My car is a 2016 ST1, I had the exhaust installed by Ford at about 5k miles and it has about 25k now.
If you look at the pics included, it looks as though the welds were bad as it broke off cleanly at the flange.
I have already contacted FRPP about the issue, it seems to be going well so far. I sent a few pictures and I am now awaiting a response.
Just thought I would share with you guys, and see what your opinions are. View attachment 215929 View attachment 215937 View attachment 215945 View attachment 215953
Yeah I'd check it over and make sure everything is good before installing. So far FRPP has been great with customer service.Wow! That's a horrible weld! I just purchased the same exhaust I'm gonna give a good look before installing it...Good luck and thx.

I'm pretty sure it was just a bad weld that some how slipped through their QC department. I haven't heard of too many of their parts failing. Not enough penetration on the weld or something? That's awful...especially from FRPP...I'd expect much better coming straight from them.
Yeah certainly not the general consensus on their parts. Guess you were the unfortunate receiver of a lemon.I'm pretty sure it was just a bad weld that some how slipped through their QC department. I haven't heard of too many of their parts failing.
Yeah, every retailer has a bad part now and then, luckily it looks like I will be getting a replacement shipped to me.Yeah certainly not the general consensus on their parts. Guess you were the unfortunate receiver of a lemon.
Thanks for the concern. Got it welded back up by a local exhaust shop, hopefully it holds this time :haha:Might as well be hot glued.
Sorry for your troubles bud.
Haven't got anything official yet, but the rep that i was talking to said that they will most likely send out a new exhaust after they review the pictures i sent them. I wont mind getting a new exhaust, not that i wanna go through the hassle of installing it. I'd honestly rather be sent a new shifter or something. So do you have to send in your current one? Or are you welded up now and getting a whole new system? I'd honestly not mind that outcome, if all I had to do is get the flange welded back
So ill most likely get a replacement mid pipe? Who wants to buy a FRPP midpipe? These requests get sent to Borla (The Supplier) and they will send out a replacement pipe for that section.
That was my plan. But i dont think anyone will buy just a mid pipe. What I was getting at is I'd just weld the current and sell the new system for $$$. Looks like you'll just get a mid pipe tho :disappointed:
