I think the car comes with more then enough power as is but I still have a theory that there is no such thing as to big of a number horse power and torque figures.

If I'm not mistaken it has a cast Crank + Rods with forged pistons So I put close to the figure of 380 Ponies to the "FRONT" wheels Range is my guess

But I thought I read somewhere the Fuelpump would start to chock out at like 361BHP but could have been for another car lol.

 

Can't wait until a turbo system is out that can get us to those numbers!

it will also vastly depend on the tune. i know the motors older brother in the ms3 bends rods over like 400tq but i think that has more to do with the longer stroke length? i've also noticed a lot of guys tuning the car to make peak tq at lower revs which i thought was harder on the pistons and rods since the piston speed is much lower?

 

people were making 400-500whp on a stock str4 motor. and that was made ten years ago. until someone pushes it we wont know what the stock internals are capable of.

 

This is exactly what I was thinking. The vehicle/engine are too new to see the breaking points. Someone will come out with a big turbo upgrade and really test the limits of this setup. I'm curious as well what that will be, so I know where to stop, or where my wallet wants me to stop.

 

Now that I would like to see. There's no way you can squeeze 500whp out of a 4cylinder without doing something to the hardware in the engine. What's your definition of a "stock" motor?

 

stock internals. a 50trim turbo on 25psi would put you right around 400whp and thats what a ton of srt4 owners were doing. most of them on stock internals.

 

Welp, if that's the case then good on Dodge for making some beast internals for that engine.

 

Well hurry up people start straping over sized turbo's to the ST, we need to figure this out... Someone start with a Turbonetics 122, that should be small enough to get some super HP out of, and still be reliable lol. :nerd:

 

Turbonetics and reliable don't belong in the same sentence.. I've got a ball bearing T76 that's a 25lb paperweight...

 

When I have several kits to chose from I'll take the plunge. I'm hoping I can get somewhere in the 330-370whp range. I'll be glad when we start seeing companies testing the limits and offering us choices.

Glad to see some of my srt-4 brothers in this forum. The srt-4 motor was over engineered, it was very strong. It wasn't uncommon to see 500hp on the stock internals. It was the 4 cylinder equivalent of the legendary skyline 6 cylinder. I doubt the Ford ecoboost is that over engineered, it will probably handle 380 whp or so as its aluminum block. That's my guess.

 

kmac over at mazdaspeed forum hit 330 on his ST with just a turbo swap and no tuning beyond COBB's K03 tune. He's still working on some ECU issues but feels like 400+ will be easily doable. Probably be done in a week or so.

 

The fact that dodge offered packages up to stg three shows how confident they were in that motor.

But what good is high whp and gobs of tq with no traction....

what about the clutch anyone know what it can handle

 

i wish ford would come out with staged kits like the mopar ones. mopar stage 3 with supporting mods put you right at 330whp. the ease of the kit was awesome too.

 

guy out or gym has a 350 on pump gas 450 on race gas nsrt4 daily driver that he's had for years. the stock f20c in the s2k can hold like 700+, the tranny and rear end are another story

edit: isn't the block from the srt4 originally from a little European diesel trolley?

I agree the stock numbers aren't bad. Highly interested in buying one.

Kinda interested to see what Honda is gonna do with the 2015 civic type r. But they will probably not release them in the USA.

Lots of mix of people here it seems. Srt, wrx, mustang, civic owners etc.

 

I also have a lot of respect for ford. They didn't take any bail out money. Makes me want to show some love back to ford.

I thought it was a cast crank with foged rods and pistons. At least that's what I thought i read on the mazdaspeed forums. As long as I can have the 12 second DD that I want, I'll be good.

Well remember in the 80's ford had the SVO. They had performance upgrade that u could do to the SVO that was over 400 or 450 can't remember.

 

Seeing that Ford released it with 252 hp ...

The Mazdaspeeds seem to old 400hp with stock internals but once you go a bit further is when it gets sketchy. I know alot of the Bigturbo guys stay away from 400tq with stock internals

 

Id be happy with just a tune and call it quits ..don't have that kinda money to mess around with ):
