Guy in one of our local groups had a fire that ruined his car to the point of no return. Makes me a little concerned. Nothing electrical was modded on the car. I have a 16, would rather not want to end up in a ball of fire (this could be a isolated instance or maybe not, who knows). Someone from Ford should um... investigate before somebody like the NTSB comes along lol.

Yeah. Well ive seen around at least my engine bay and a lot of wire is unprotected. Ive had to go around with electrical tape and cover it up. Fire marshall bill said it started around the battery, guy explains that his windshield wipers went heywire first. Something arc'd somewhere probably the connections running into the fusebox? Idk

Im a certified fire investigator and the with extent of damage that car sustained, theres no way to tell where the fire started for sure. His insurance company will pay for it and subrogate against Ford if theres anyway they can.

Hmmm I just had my ST in for warranty work and they replaced both front wheel bearings. I drive it home about 40 miles and pull into the garage and the garage/car filled with smoke and smelt like burning wires. Obviously shut the car off popped hood and hatch and let it clear out. Now it's getting towed back to said dealership so they can take a look at it.

I wonder if my car decided to try and commit suicide as well? Makes me reconsider a WRX or Golf now with the issues I've had.

Check your battery compartments. I have found at least 4 other members on here and my local group that have leaking batteries. I didn't notice mine for a while and I had to replace the terminal wires as well as the battery. I am now running a Braille B2015 with no issues. This is my terminal cable after cleaning and this is a photo that @Bart posted of his battery leaking. Automotive lighting Joint Hand Auto part Bumper

I stopped at Ford before work today. A new positive cable is $55 I think.

Yeah. I got it for $20 off a local wrecked 2016 with like 3k miles. Keep finding tons like that and a local shop buys wrecked WRX/STI/STs and parts them out. There is a white wire that will need to be cut and reattached to the one in the car. Auto part Engine Vehicle Metal
