Correct. The ELM is setup to use the HS CAN network as that is the network the PCM is on. You can use the ELM without modification to upload the data to the BCM which also uses HS CAN.

Side Note : the way shown in the first post can cause issues if for some reason the right information is not pulled with the VIN. the best way to do it is read from the BCM after opening Focccus.exe - save an original copy of the data to have a good backup to restore to just in case - then just modify the value using the pulldown menu associated with that option. No need to save an xml file. the program is setup for ease of use.

I gotta give the credit to Dl33T, while I did find this program out there in the wilds JSTUMP and DL33T were the guinea pigs. With th the help of an IDS DL33T can fix things during testing.

Hello, I have an NA focus. Been watching this thread for a while and I have two questions.

Got all the stuff to do the switch mod but I'm glad to see for the Global Open and Close I don't need to modify my ELM. Does that mean that any of the parameters in that general tab can be modified and saved without the mod?

Also, maybe I missed something but what are the benefits of doing the mod. You said it has to do with the IPC but what can be changed about the IPC? I am planning to do the mod I just don't understand what the whole IPC part of this can change on the car.

The different modules in the veh are responsible for different actions. CCDdata is stored in both modules as a backup even though the module doesn't use all the config. Example IPC is responsible for backup camera not the bcm. I will go into more depth when I get home

Right now, to do ONLY the global open you need access to the HS CAN bus. No mod needed. But since this program can edit modules on the other bus as well you can do the mod and when we know more you will already be ready. Ill post a picture and reference why the mod is needed for future capability in post 2 shortly

Do you have a push button start? Because I tried this on a 2012 NA and it didn't work. She had a key start though so the key may have been the difference. Just so you know.

Yeah I have a titanium with push button.

Also thanks DL33T and jdub. I'm a tech/computer guy myself so, as you can imagine, all this peaks my interest very much.

Also have an N/A key start Focus, 2013. Windows do not work when key is in off position, regardless of whether car was previously on and radio is still on, ect. Its likely that its more a hardware issue than software because I have been able to do a few things with my ELM separate from global open/close already without issue like enable hill start assist and disable shift light.

if you have a moonroof, will the open close mod open close the moonroof also? this is very interesting to see what can be changed and if a back up camera can be made to work.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the video is hard to watch on small devices like a phone. When shooting video please turn the phone sideways.

No, as of now it does not appear to work the sunroof. I have tried both the sunroof option and the bmax option and neither do.
