UPDATED: March 20, 2015

Updating with working features.
1. Global open/close windows.
2. Removal of shift light.
3. After market HIDs
4. Add Hill Assist to non ST model
5. Turn on ecoscout display
6. Windshield wiper motor calibration
7. OEM Cruise Control added to Ford Focus SE with Sync: use option #23 Cruise Control set to "with Cruise Control"

When reading or writing config changes to the different modules you will create a slurry of DTC's on the car. This is completely normal. Download and install Forscan on your pc to read and clear out all the communications DTC's.

Things you will need: Laptop with USB port and a corded USB ELM327 code reader, or bluetooth capability if you are using an OBDlink MX or similiar adapter. A BestBuy Rocketfish micro Bluetooth adapter is what I have(id recommend the fastest bluetooth module you can get your hands on for under $40.
OBDlink MX: Shop this around, sales prices all over the place, or from here:Amazon.com: ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth/OBD-II Scan Tool Interface: Automotive

First you will need a OBD2 code reader that must be capable of reading the Highspeed (HS) canbus that Ford uses. If it can read the Medium Speed (MS-CAN) bus thats a plus for other purposes such as using the software known as Forscan . For the purposes of this write up I am using the OBDLink MX(what I had already). A corded USB ELM327 may work as well but depends on the quality of the knockoff sold at most locations.

Special note: If you are using Bluetooth you will need to know which com port your computer has assigned to the Bluetooth module.
Next you will need Forscan, download from here:Download FORScan.($Free) Forscan is a PC only test tool that can log several hundred different parameters at a time, read and clear all DTC's (you will get tons of dtc's during this process but no worries no long term effects are caused when done)and run individual selftests on each CAN module.

To do the window mod and shift light change you need the Focccus App, the as-built editor both of which can be found here: Ford Tools by xGloooM from ffclub.ru
You will need a windows PC with bluetooth wireless adapter. Lastly you will need the bluetooth code reader or ELM327.
The video how to above can walk you through what to do once you have these programs.

Here is the fun part. Go here: Ford Tools by xGloooM from ffclub.ru and open the AS Built editor.
Image
type your vin number in and click download from ETIS. You should see something like this:
Image

navigate to block 184
Image
click the drop down box and change to either option 02 or 03(both work) but neither will open and close the sunroof.
Image

Now scroll back to the top and click Make XML
Image

now your pc will ask where to save the new file. Choose at your discretion as it does not matter. Go to your car and ensure your MX is plugged into the port(or Elm327). Car should be in accesory position (KOEO) key on engine off.

Now we load up the Focccus app. if you are using an OBDlink MX set your options to this
Image
note...the com port is totally dependent on your pc setup.
Click open. Focccus will now load up to this screen
Image

Now click load from file and browse to where you saved your new xml file you created. Click open. Focccus should now look like this:
Image

To confirm the settings scroll down to block 184 and verify your new global open settings. If everything is correct you are ready to write.
If everything is good click here
Image
you should see a message about starting the write procedure. Do not turn car off or press any buttons. You will see the green bar start on the left side and transition to the right in about 7-8 seconds till it shows 100%. the lights will shut off and come right back on and then you should see a message about write successful. At this point I waited for about 30seconds at which point I turned the car off and then back on to verify startup which worked as it should. Then I rolled all the windows down and turned the car off. To verify this worked get out and push and hold the lock button for maybe 5 seconds. You will now see the windows roll up perfectly. Same procedure to roll them down only now you use unlock on the Fob. Hope this helps you!

Copy. Thanks for the clarification. I don't think we have that option here.

Hi guys,

Sorry this is my first post on this forum and I know I should introduce myself first but I'm in a hurry... But I will :)

After using FoCCCus on a few Focuses Mk 3.5 at work to enable autolock by speed and the CAT1 alarm, I tried to do the same thing on two C-Maxes (same year, 2015). Alarm is not working the same way as it does on the Focus so I connected back to both C-Max using FoCCCus and this is what greeted me:

A second list of 243 settings appeared at the end of the first list. The first rows are all set to "not set" with 00 hexa values!
FoCCCus version is 0.8.6 so it should work. I don't know what to do... Should I edit the second list and write to the BCM?

The first C-Max throws a DTC with no visible signal or warning, but the second one says it's missing the hood latch switch so the BCM thinks the hood is opened, a warning message appears on the IPC every time you switch ignition to ON and the driver must accept a warning with the OK button, and a red "i" shines on the dashboard...

IIRC there's someone on this forum who knows the FoCCCus dev team so I'm hoping he could tell them... I'm leaving the country for Peru in two weeks, this issue has to be over by then one way or another because one of the two cars has to go for a maintenance at Ford, I guess they won't like this!

I'm investigating adding the alarm function to my Kuga (Aussie spec with no alarm) and one thing I have established is I require a new bonnet latch which incorporates the alarm switch. It's a normally closed switch (ie. it goes open circuit when the bonnet is released.) My current latch has the loom plug going to it, but it's plugged into a useless piece of moulded plastic (instead of the proper microswitch.)

The proper bonnet latch with the switch available here https://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_kuga_bonnet_latch_assy___f_5236243_c_1131.htm and also listed under the part number CV6Z-16700-B (the non alarm version is CV6Z-16700-A.)

Hi folks. New to the forum. I have searched but was not able to get a clear answer to me question so here goes. I will be doing a bi-xenon retrofit in my new 2016 Focus Titanium and I am in the US. I will be using the Focccus app to change my headlight type but am wondering a couple of things. Once this I have changed the settings, will the warning still work if I have an issue with the HID system down the road just as it would if I had factory HIDs. I will be using the highbeam harness to activate the highbeam shield in the projectors, will I get a buld fault if the highbeam S are no longer being utilized? And are there any other tips any of you have for this project I will be taking on?

I don't know if the Focccus app is being actively developed but apparently it hasn't been updated in a long time. There's no way for using Wifi OBD2 adapters with it. Apparently it only accepts connections via COM ports. I bought what is supposed to be a top notch obd2 device just to find out I can't use it with focccus. I have the ObdLink MX (wifi version).
I don't know if it's been tried before but does anyone know if messing with virtual com ports or something that forwards a virtual COM port to TCP will get me anywhere...

Thanks

A friend of mine did my 2016 ST1. The global windows work brilliantly and the shift light delete is fantastic. I paid him 15 bucks which for him is pure profit but money well spent for me.

Just wanted to report that the latest version of this app does work with the 2016 Focus Titanium. I used it to successfully change the head lights to Alternate HID and to change the global windows setting. Don't know about the headlights yet as I haven't installed my HIDs yet but the global windows does work. This did take several attempts with error hang ups before it finally worked however.

Any chance this software will work on a cabled OBD device or WiFi?

the software only says "offline mode" :(

Considering the global open/close and shift light turned off, does this stuff have to be re-programmed if I take the car in for service?

ahhh ok... i have the Tactric OpenPort 2.0 aswell... works great with ForScan, but nothing in the Focccus app :/

ill try to make a viritual comport or something :)

No idea if somebody tried this before, but here is what I did right now: I broke the plastic steering limiter out, so I can use the full steering angle of the normal Focus. Some others did this too without any problems (as long you have enough wheel clearance, might/will not work with stock wheels!!). The only thing is that the last few degrees are not supported by the power steering, you have to turn while rolling or you need more strength to turn. I thought I could solve this by changing the point "steering c-factor" from "ST" to "normal", it´s 234 I believe. I know the factor itself has nothing to do with the maximum angle, instead it´s a factor used for calculating how many degrees the wheels turn with the turn of the steering wheel. The ST should have a bigger factor, it turns the wheels faster than the normal Focus.

Long story short: I did not feel any difference, not while driving and not at the maximum angle. The only significant difference was that the ST logo at startup changed to the Ford logo! I switched back immediately, made me a bit nervous

So I am wondering if anyone could help. I flashed the BCM with the XML file from As-Built Editor Ford Focus III to change fog light function and global up/down. My mistake was that I thought I downloaded a good BCM XML file from my car before changing come to find out it was filled with garbage when looking at it later to re-flash. I used the ETIS generated one, and seems to be working fine after i un-bricked my car.

Was wondering if someone with similar build could send me their BCM XML file so i can verify?

My car is a 2012 ST2 with factory power moonroof.
VIN is 1FADP3L92DL196865 for specifics.

Not sure where i made the error, as it connected a read fine.

Did you ever get this taken care of? I am 2013 ST2 (no sun roof though) technically 2012 production date.

#1,838 ·
Has anyone figured out how to make the fogs come on at the same time as the headlights without having to press the button every time.

#1,843 ·
Maybe it's something to do with the early 13 builds. Mine was built in 12. It's been that way since day one.

For the experienced in this field...

If you make these changes (global windows, etc), do they get reset if you go to the dealership for service and they update your software or anything like that? Also, can dealerships tell that you've done something and try to deny any service for these kinds of mods?

Thanks

#1,848 ·
I have not had mine reset by the dealer when taking it in. Technically they "could" find it and deny because of it but you need to give them reason to look at something like that. If you are that worried about being denied do to it just change it back before you bring it in. I know the dealer has done the global windows for some so I doubt they could deny over that one.
I am generally loathe to mislead/lie about anything, but in a case such as this I would just tell them someone there did it for me on request, and shrug. Let them try and give you warranty hassle then.

Withholding features like this, when they are there and available, is one of my biggest beefs with car manufacturers, so I consider a tiny bit of dishonesty in the service of using simple features like this "dishonest" in the same sense that an Intelligence Officer misleads an adversary for noble gains (think James Bond :)).

Or lying to protect someone from something bad. Ford is ethically wrong to implement features like global windows, then only enable it for certain markets. So I don't see anything unethical with a little deception related to using these features.

Cool. Thanks for the input.
I just didn't know if it was something that sticks out like a sore thumb to them or not.

I have a 2016 Focus ST (I've had it for 5 days, so I'm a noob). Got a USB OBD cable from scantool.com. Using the focccus software, it was able to read my factory settings. I saved to a file, then changed the shift light setting to "Not Set" (the other options were "Without shift indication" and "Unknown"). Flashed it back to my car, then took it for a test drive. Shift light still there. :(

Should I have set it to "Without shift indication"?

Hi everybody. I have read all the thread and I have a doubt about the close/open windows mod. My Focus III 2016 named "S" witch is the level entry in my country don´t have one touch in the four windows, only in the driver´s one, and just to down the window. The answerd is: Can the mod works on this or is a essential condition have one touch in all the windows to make it works with Foccus.Basically different modules.
The car was built in april 2016 HW:F1ET-14F094-AB; App.FIET-14C026-AAH
Thanks.

Thanks guys. Much better than the OBDLink lol.

Ok. I got it to work with my laptop. Got global windows working. Still getting an error code for my headlights though with it set to alternate HID. I tried HID, and got what seemed to be a more severe error code saying to service now. Not sure what to do for the headlights.

Edit: I also noticed the BCM has a DTC U2101. What's that? :p

I haven't done the HID mod yet to any cars but once in a blue moon I'd get en error code. I don't remember what error code it was but once I cleared it, i never had a problem with it again. I've done over ten cars now with the global windows and fogs on with high beams.
