Hey all, I'm gonna install a fmic. I'm to remove the grill shutters. Instructions call for the electrical plug for the shutter motor to be taped and zip tied out of the way. No problem. I have heard of cel being thrown with this situation. I have heard to take the motor from shutters, keep it connected to the electrical plug, and zip tie that whole contraption out of the way to avoid the cel. What have you guys done/experienced with this?
Thanks

No CEL with mine unplugged and ziptied for the past few months. I think it is a 'soft code' stating an AGS error.

as others have said - no CEL once disconnected and zip tied into a corner, the shutters are just there to improve air flow and increase fuel economy. Dont overthink it, you got this!

The AGS being removed will only throw a soft code that can be read using diagnostics tools, but will not emit a CEL. Be sure to ziptie the connector up somewhere so that it doesnt get caught up in anything. Removing the AGS can be a little pain in the ass sometimes, just be sure you pay attention to where the thing sits in the brackets. Otherwise a FMIC is pretty straight forward and you will love the results come summer especially.

No CEL for a few months now but fuel economy has dropped. Well worth it though!
