There's no rev limiter on these cars. You could rev all the way to the moon if you wanted to. I don't even bother revving that high because the turbo dies after 5500 RPM anyway. You're just wasting time above that RPM.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Accidents happen. It went into limp mode to protect the engine. I'd just be careful next time.So could what I did cause damage to my engine?
I mean there's nothing preventing you from revving (in neutral) all the way to redline. Of course every car has a rev limit at the redline to prevent damage to the motor.Huh? Theres an electronic rev limiter. Which tuners will happily adjust to suit anyones needs.
There is no mechanical over-rev protection, which is standard for a manual trans.
iirc my limiter is at 7200 right now, not that thats anywhere for the ST to be on the stock k03.
