There is a better amp from the escape thats a direct fit for ST, there is a thread on this forum that list the model number.

I installed it and upgraded the front speakers.. Gives the OEM system a little more punch without to much $$$

Does it work with a 2014??

Yes I have a 2014. Got it from a member on this forum. You can get them on EBay. I can take a picture of it when I get back home on Thursday

? for you audio guys........so I find a used amp on line but the wires have been cut just before the harness........leaving about 1/2" of wire. Is this sufficient enough length of wire to do connections with so it all works??

OK........so.........purchased the AA Ford amp from a Taurus and had it installed. While I was at it, I had the place install a set of MTW component speakers in the front. They weren't cheap.

So now clearly I have a lot more volume BUT, damn if the highs aren't tinny at high volume and they are tinny in the front speakers!! WTF??!! Not crisp.........its like the upper mid notes and voices and cymbals hang on in the mix. BUT at the same time, the new front speakers do seem to have a lot more depth and provide nice lower end notes. When I screw around with the equalizer, on the treble and mids, don't seem to have the control I had with the stock set-up when turning the settings down.

Anyway..............not happy........on some recordings it works nice but seems on most of the CD stuff, the highs are irritating at anything over 3/4 volume sucks.......I tried fading to the back but then I lose some clarity.

Any idea's for a fix?

Only when I fade to the rear does turning down the treble take out that tinny sound. The speakers do have crossovers but they are buried in the door by the installer. Somebody on another thread told me the AA Ford amp doesn't provide enough power to drive the focal speakers. By "unplug the center channel" do you mean on the crossover???
