Thats aftermarket. I still have zero tint as from factory.
Thats aftermarket. I still have zero tint as from factory. This may sound like a silly question, but here's a bit of context. I noticed a very small blotch of missing film on the interior of my driver side window:

This got me looking closer and I noticed a clear tint terminating at the edge of the glass:

So I suppose I'm asking: is this factory? Or did the previous owner do this? I always thought Ford's solar tint was built into the glass itself. Is the solar tint applied like any other tint then?
Thanks, Deuce!Thats aftermarket. I still have zero tint as from factory.
Some states any tint is illegal. Like NY. The glass has to meter 70% light transmission or you can’t even pass state safety inspection. Which means ANY film on the glass will fail.Yeah that appears to be legal tint (50% or above). Complete waste of money if you ask me, it makes little to no difference.
Usually factory tints are somehow embedded into the glass, not a film.
Agreed, the first car I tinted I went legal and could barely tell a difference except certain light situations. Current tint on my ST is 15% all around. My eyes are really sensitive to light so the dark tint makes a dramatic difference to me, especially at night with other car's headlights. I suppose I could get a medical tint waiver but haven't went through the process yet.@Melchior i tint everything i own, personal preference. My comment was that if you're spending the money to do it, do it to a degree where it makes a difference. Legal tint makes practically zero difference in look and interior temperature.
I dont think tint alone is going to get you pulled over. That being said, if a cop was really motivated, they could still probably give you a ticket. An out of state ticket is more likely to be paid via mail vs someone coming to fight itRelated question: If I live in a state with lenient tint limits but get pulled over while driving through a strict state, can I be ticketed if the tint is legal in my state not in the state through which I'm driving?
