Would it be possible to get some logs from people showing Ambient, Intake Air and maybe Charge Air Temps? With an OTS Stage 1 map. List mods, if any.

I'm wanting to get an intake to put on when I put my CXR FMIC on and was wanting to see if the FRPP is worth the cash even though it's simple, or if a CP-E get-up is worth the premium. Thanks!

Im going to be honest with you they are not going to get you a lot of hp but they sound cool and the cpe is real eye candy. If you want a log here you go

Not a ots stage 1 it only had a little bit of fuel and timing adjusted
Only mod is a green filter and the tune

Are you trying to see if the intake will result in cooler temperatures?
The only real advantage to most intakes is the drop in pressure pre-turbo which allows you to run the turbo more efficiently and generate more boost. However these changes are quite small as pointed our above since the OE tubing is fairly large in diameter already.

Graph with observations

Here's a quick log I made in September of last year. Note that my comments in the graph are based on best understanding - I'm not a tuner, just an engineer with an interest (but not training) in car performance. If someone more experienced can chime in, I'm very open to constructive criticism.

Notes on run:
  • started with 90 degree right turn from stop
  • shifted from 1st to 2nd around half throttle due to traffic
  • had time to hold 2nd WOT for ~4 seconds, time in 3rd was ~1 second
  • 0-60 in this run was 8.1 seconds, not fast at all
  • stock+FRPP CAI with FSWERKS 93 octane tune

The forum won't let me attach an .XLSX file. PM me if you want the raw data.

I think you're dead on about the surge valve causing the temporary spikes in post filter air temp.

What are you using to measure air temps and datalog?

duster, I used my v2 AP. Most of the information in this graph is derived rather than direct.

Direct
  • Accel Pedal Pos
  • Vehicle Speed
  • Charge Air Temp
Derived
  • Engine RPM % Redline = RPM / 7000
  • Pre-Filter Intake Tract Heating = Intake Air Temp - Ambient Air Temp
  • Post-Filter Intake Tract Heating = Comp Inlet Temp - Intake Air Temp
  • Compressor Heating = Comp Outlet Temp - Comp Inlet Temp
  • Intercooler Cooling = Comp Outlet Temp - Charge Air Temp
  • Total Heating = Charge Air Temp - Ambient Air Temp
I posted this graph in a thread a few months back and I believe someone pointed out that there is no pre-intake temp sensor, so my pre-filter and post-filter measurements should be renamed. I don't remember the details. Haven't had time to do any more recent data collection, though I'd like to now that the snow seems to be gone and I have an intake runner added to the mix. Will post here and correct the pre/post-filter bit when I do.
