Hey guys, just finished building the rear diffuser for our time attack car. The diffuser is made of 6mm alumalite and is built to Global Time Attack Limited class specs. it protrudes about 5" outside of the rear bumper and starts at the rear wheel centerline. Its tight but it fits! Custom Chassis mounted front splitter should be done soon as well this week!

The basic theory is that the air underneath the car is moving faster causing it to decrease in pressure thanks to the flat underbody and the rear diffuser is to smoothen the air flow exiting. The higher pressure ambient air will push the vehicle down giving more downforce.

The diffuser isn't for smoothing, it is for creating the volume expansion needed to increase the velocity of the air under the car without the air separating from the diffuser(which stalls the diffuser making no downforce).

Ok that I didn't know.
I have been on a formula sae team for 4 years, I know a lot of stuff about how aero, brakes, suspension, chassis, engine, and electrical systems work.

So funny story... my buddy sent me a pic of the Focus at time attack (he was the white Corvette in limited RWD, also the pic was not from your finest moment ...), and I saw that ginormous diffuser on the back I proudly exclaimed "I know that car!". How well did you guys feel you did?

Hi! Fantastic work! This is the best diffuser I’ve seen! Is it possible to share the part’s shape to scale and all the measurements to reproduce this diffuser? Thank you for sharing!

I see you're competing in TT3, curious what final hp to weight ratio numbers that ST is coming in at without the driver??
