Hi guys, one of my mounting clips on my CPE intercooler snapped off from the extra burden off bumps from my coilovers. I zip tied it to help secure it and it works, but bounces around a little bit. I have an idea of getting a shop to weld 2x L brackets on it to mount it directly to the crash bar. Has anyone done something similar to this before? Does the Son of Beast intercool mount directly to the crash bar? I may just sell my CPE and upgrade the Depo extra large IC.

Looking forward to seeing your input guys!

Thanks

Depo are clones of the cp-e intercoolers. Do you have a picture of the damage? Is it on the intercooler? If so did you contact cp-e about this issue?

I bought the intercooler used, so I doubt CPE would be much help. Its the right side mounting bracket that holds the FMIC onto the OEM bracket.

Gotcha. Never hurts to ask. However there has been one person who had tabs welded onto his intercooler that mounts to the crash bar. Would be easier and cheaper than buying a different intercooler.

Oh for sure, I am looking to see if anyone welded large L brackets onto the top of the intercooler and lined up the screw holes with the crashbar, and put a screw and nut through it. Effectively holding the FMIC up.

My Levels is setup like that but I had to drill through the crash bar. PITA unless you have good cobalt bits.

Thanks, a regular dewalt drill with the cobalt bits would work?
