Went to the dealer and they didn’t have the orange coolant for my car to top off and they said this yellow is ok to mix with my orange. Is this true?

I don’t seem to understand what that means. It says it’s not ok but then it says it is ok lol.
o_O Welcome to Crazy Town! o_O

Keep in mind these are the same folks who say that plugs & gearbox fluids are good for 100k mi.
Basically, a splash is okay, and full replacement is okay.

Motorcaft orange is just Dex-cool. So grab some Dex-cool and top off, and save the yellow for when you want to do a full replacement (which I never did because Dex-cool is available at all kinds of gas stations where motorcaft yellow compatible coolant isn't). I just replaced mine entirely with Dex-cool whenever I had the system open.

The yellow 50/50 replaced the orange several years ago. That is the correct coolant

Would this be considered topping off or is that egregiously low to mix the two?

Whoa... You're not just a little low, you're WAY low.... I'd be checking for a leak, and you shouldn't be driving the car when it's that low... There's a reason there's a minimum line on the tank. The coolant system on these cars doesn't hold much at all, and running that low can create air pockets in the head that can lead to cracks in it.

I haven’t filled in 6 years. Is it ok to top off with the yellow?
I'd either top off with the original pink or yellow to max fill line and then make a point to check every week for a while (month) to ensure no leaks. don't overthink this. sooner the better as thats pretty low

I'm trying to wrap my brain around you continuing to drive with the coolant that far below the minimum line for potentially months/year(s) and ignoring it....

Just top it off with distilled water for the time being until you can flush/refill the entire system with fresh coolant. 6 years is a bit of time on coolant and it'll get acidic after a while anyway. It's a good time to flush and refill it since it likely needs refreshing.

Probably best to completely drain and refill the coolant. If it really hasn't changed in 6 years at all, the quality has to be bad and housing some hidden time bombs you are better not having to contend with. Contaminated or old liquids are always bad news for a vehicle!
Now I got to check mine it's been 5 years I've never put anything in it I've never noticed it low though and I've been under the hood.
