The car was in an accident before I bought it. I had the seat belt pretensioners and the airbag module sent off to be repaired at myairbags.com. They stated that the module could not be reset because it was damaged/messed with prior. I purchased a new air bag module from Ford and re-installed everything. Now I have a constantly flashing air bag light along with Sync saying that "911 assistance is unavailable. See a ford dealership for service." The Accessport didnt find any codes.

Not sure if it is true on the current Focus or not, but Ford used to have airbag lights flash in a pattern. The pattern tells the code. For example 1 flash break 3 flash break 1 flash becomes a 1-3-1 code. Something to look into. Probably available online somewhere (most likely in one of the Focus forums).

I did find something that stated that a constant flashing airbag light means there is a fault with the clock spring behind the steering wheel in the column. I didnt touch anything dealing with that. Only thing I can think of is maybe something with the airbag module is jacked up.

The module needs to be reprogrammed to the car. I believe there are 2 (3 maybe?) modules that keep track of the RCM (Restraints Control Module) that need to be updated to match it, and the RCM needs to have its programmable memory written as well and configured. Not a simple plug and play.

Just an update for anyone doing their research:
As Bugasu stated, the new module had to be programmed for my car. Dealership took care of it and all is working as it should.
