Hello FocusST forum members,

I was wondering if anyone could post the compatible tire sizes for the FocusST. Particularly interested if a 255 40 R19 would fit, if there will be enough clearance? Reason I am looking at this particular tire size is I had traded a Ford Mustang from which these 19" winter performance tires were left over. I have not looked into the offset and compatible wheels yet as I would like to know the widest tire that can possibly be used.

Thank you,

That size won't work. It'll be almost 1.5" too tall...if you are looking at 19" wheels, a 35 aspect ratio would be more reasonable, but at 255, you'd probably want a 30 to be closer to stock tire profile. Here is a short list that I have:

for 18" wheels
225/40r18 (not as wide, slightly shorter profile)
235/40r18 (stock size)
245/40r18 (Wider and slightly taller profile)
255/40r18 (wider and taller profile)
255/35r18 (wider and slightly shorter profile)

for 19" wheels
225/35r19 (thinner and slightly shorter profile)
235/35r19 (close to stock width/height)
245/35r19 (wider and slightly taller)
255/35r19 (wider and taller profile)
255/30r19 (wider and slightly shorter profile)

If you're looking at the widest tire you can fit...I've seen someone running a 265/30r19 on a 19x8.5" wheel (I believe those specs are correct). I'm not sure what offset he is running, but the wheels were purchased from a sponsor: Perfect Circle Autosport

Thank you for the reply, Blacknblue2002. Yes, I agree it would be an inch and half taller or larger on diameter. I am not sure if we have enough clearance to accommodate a larger diameter. I measured an inch clearance(roughly) on stock tires, so I assumed there would be space to fit a larger aspect ratio tire. I might be wrong though.

Might be worth adding to your list that a 265/35/18 tire is the same diameter as the OEM tire. Too wide for the stock wheel, though.

Will a 255/35/18 fit on the stock rim?

Depends on how you define "fit". Yes, you can mount that tire size on there but the wheel is too narrow for it to fit properly, the sidewalls will be pulled inward and it'll negatively affect the contact area of the tread.

Hey guys. I have a chance to purchase some blizzaks at a great price. They are
255/45/R18. Will those fit on stock rims and suspension? Thanks!

That will throw your speedometer and odometer way off. 6.4% off!

If you read thru the gs autocross thread it seems that 255/40/17 might be the better choice over 245/40/17 for autocross, even though it is on a 8" rim and they say you need atleast 8.5" rim for those tires.

I am not sure if i want to go 255/40/17 or 245/40/17 on my 8" rim hmmmm.

You guys should really check this site out. They have tire size calculator and wheel offset calculator.

They're wide. They might fit but they're out of spec for the wheel. They'll be pinched and your contact area will be reduced accordingly

I was using 225/45R18 on my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X because the 245/40R18 were too wide for winter conditions...
I don't claim those 255 won't fit but I won't tell you to used that wide...
