MP275 kit is CARB approved
COBB vs Mountune Upgrade...
Starting to save my pennies for an upgrade purchase for the holiday season / tax time. Im stuck between 2 different choices.
Mountune mp275 for $2000
COBB B3 package for $1430
I currently already have a v3 so I would end up selling it for the mTune handset or sell the extra v3. Since they both the Intercooler, and Intake; to me it seems as if the COBB B3 package is the better deal because it comes with a RMM and a "custom calibration" and is close to $500 cheaper. Aside form warranties am I missing something that would make me want the mp275 over the B3 package?

Mountune - works directly with Ford, certified installs covered by factory warranty, CARB approved, locked tune
COBB - Includes a couple extra parts, AP allows you to reflash as you add more mods
Both kits are bolt-ons and tune from reputable shops, so the performance gains *should* be similar. COBB will be easier to upgrade as you continue to modify and dial in your car.

You don't mind me asking a question about the Mountune handset? Today I found out about the multi settings for the 275 kit. When the mechanic asked me what setting I wanted I went for economy. So, how do these different settings effect performance, one of which was something called "valet"??? And is it normal for the reprogramming to only take a split second?
Personally I don't think that you really save that much by buying the kits, but if that's the direction you want to go you have to decide how important warranty is to you. If you're not worried about voiding warranty, or if you know the people at your local Ford dealer and know they will work with you if you do need to use it, then the Cobb AP3 beats the hell out of any other tuner on the market IMHO, but if you are just going to use the cobb ots maps you are missing out on much better tunes by other companies like Stratified, Panda, etc. Honestly though, I don't see much value in the kits and would rather just buy individual parts and pick and choose exactly what I want to go on. I suggest do the math on the parts you want individually and compare with the cost of the kit and see what makes the most sense.

The B3 kit allows free tuning for 45 days after purchase if you choose to log. It has the Cobb OTS maps and a custom tune from Mountune. To me, it's a no brainer. If you price out that kit it's a great deal.

I'll be going with the Mountune Kit myself for the simple fact that I like my Ford Dealership, they can do it when I go in for a regular maintenance and it will be covered under my warranty. Nothing against COBB at all, I used to install TONNES of their parts on Subaru's, I am just willing to pay a little extra for the Mountune for the reasons above.
