Has anyone figured out when it is and isn't necessary to press the brake pedal with the clutch to start? Back in 2013 when I first got my TS ST, I only had to depress the clutch to start. I think I went a whole year until I had to add the brake pedal to my startup sequence.

Every once in a while I'll be able to start my ST without the brake, but I haven't figured out why.

Can anyone explain why it's sometimes needed and other times it's not? Is it dependant on something like how hard I apple the e-brake? Thanks!!!

I would guess that is your problem. I always have my e-brake on and I've never had to apply the brakes to start.

Not to nit-pick, but if you check the owners manual, the brake you are referring to as the emergency brake (e-brake) is referred to as the parking brake; I have always used the parking brake and have never had to use the foot brake to start the car. Then again, two different people, two different cars.

I always put my feet on the brake and the clutch at start up. Old habit, I learned to drive manuals in 1984. You never know when you're in gear.

Never had to touch the brake in mine, but basically always have the parking brake on.. Not sure I've tried starting it without the parking brake..
