I can't seem to find a build date for the suspension & brake changes on the '14 ST. I know the early 2014 shared the same suspension & brakes as the 2013, but later on in the year they changed both. My build date is sept '13 so should I be buying 2013 springs or the '14+ springs?

If I am not mistaken they changed the suspension with the facelift. So for all pre-facelift models the suspension should be the same. Brakes were changed from 320 mm to 335 mm rotors for '13 models in North America.

I believe this is correct. Besides measuring the rotors, an easy check would be if you have round fogs you are pre-facelift (2013-early2014) but if you have rectangular fogs you are post-facelift (late2014+).

The build date change for rotors was 3/31/2014.

Springs were changed mid 2013 Model Year so you should search springs for "2013.5 +" or 2014. I have an August build date and used the new 2013.5+ springs from Cobb.

I would advise getting all new dampers when doing springs which will avoid this issue entirely, especially if you have a car this old. I went with YCW coilovers and am just amazed every time I drive.

Ford really made a weird **** up with changing parts over the years. For EDM models, the suspension wasn't changed at all until facelift and also, we never got the 13.1" rotors by default (booo!). For MY2016, they added the 13.1 rotors as a option in a "perfomance pack". Without that, even MY2018 left the factory with 12.6" rotors.

Wowww I never realized the EDM Foci were that far off on updates and changes, thanks for bringing me up to speed on that. Weird they would offer them as a performance package instead of standard to match USDM. Always jealous of the seats and laser-headlight options over there too that we can't have with US regulations

So I've just done some more googling but it looks like they changed the struts at the same time they changed brakes? Found a thread where COBBST says that 2015 suspension is the same as late 2014, but early 2014 is different. So they changed struts mid 2013 then again mid 2014?

They changed the suspension and brakes at separate times actually.

It's the spring and the lower spring perch on the strut.

Nobody made aftermarket shocks/struts for the revision, only springs. So if you wanted to do shocks/struts you went with an early 13' setup. I run early 13' Koni Yellows and Swift Spec R on my mid 14' build. Not sure if the aftermarket changed. Have not shopped around.

Why couldn't ford just make it easy and change **** when the model year changes lmao

So with a build date of sept 2013 I should be looking for 2014 springs correct?

I get conflicting dates on alot of them lol some say 03/31/14 was the change date, others say the struts were the same throughout the 2014 model year, some say they didn't change until the 2015 model year so I was hoping I'd get some clarification on it

FYI

For the 14+ with the revised spring perch design, Bilstein does offer them now.

here are the part numbers for the front:
29-256402
29-256419

pic of the 14+ B8 for reference just if you were wondering
379127

If your spring perch looks like this, you have the 14+, if it does not, then you have the older design.

That is correct. My build date is August 2013 and have the updated spring design, September build date should also have the updated design. But again, I would suggest getting all new struts along with springs if you haven't replaced the dampers already.

Like Duece said, you can buy early '13 struts with early '13 springs and use on any year ST as they all bolt up just fine, as a whole setup. New dampers will make you smile. and possibly cry after your third fuel fill for the week as you're going to want to drive the car like new again

Wouldn't this go against the post from COBBST regarding this? I just found it like half an hour ago.

"I'm going to be referring to early and late builds. For the purpose of clarification, an early build 2014 Focus ST is one built prior to 3/30/14. A late build 2014 Focus ST is one built after 3/31/14... The 2013 and 2014 Focus STs with early build dates share the same strut spring perch. Lowering springs made for those cars will NOT work in late build 2014s or in the 2015 FoST!" I'm so confused here
