Met up with one of the Houston ST/RS Club guys this evening and his bone stock RS. The RS still has paper plates, but does have north of a 1000 miles on the odometer to ensure things are past the break in period. The ST is powered by a Garrett GTX2867R and tuned on 93 octane which makes 350ish whp and 360ish wtq on 24 pounds of boost; with the usual accompanying "stage three" bolt-ons. We both had four people in each car giving joy rides while we got in a few fun runs.
We had three runs from a second gear roll. In each run we would be side by side until he shifted at 6K while I continued to rev out to 7K, this is where I would creep ahead just a bit to end up about a full length ahead at the top of fourth gear.
There were two runs from a dig as well. As we all expect, the RS put two car lengths on me by the top of first gear. I did slowly reel him back in, getting to the rear bumper by the top of third before we'd shut them down.
Again, it was all in good fun and results were pretty much what was expected. In the coming weeks the RS will be tuned and we might get in a rematch before de-modding of the ST starts to make way for an RS of my own.
Here is a video of one of the runs from a roll:
