Ac issues 2014 Ford Focus SE

Sometimes the ac won't turn on. The light for ac lights up, it blows air, just warm air. The compressor never kicks on. If I turn the car off and on then it will instantly work.
Any idea how to fix it?

Check to see if the fan comes on when you switch to A/C.

You need pressure gauges and a scan tool to see what the system is trying to do.

Check and see if the computer is allowing the ac on, and the gauges to see what the pressures are doing each time.
