So I own an 2013 st3 with the sony system. I was watching a video where you can purchase this product ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098NBF951/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_undefined?linkCode=ml1&tag=cameronalfo03-20 ) that allows apple car play but is only available to 2016 3.0 sony systems. Would I be able to swap the system into a new one for this to work? Has anyone updated there system?

Carplay and android auto didn’t make it into the ST till 2016. Even the 2016 folks had to buy that USB hub to make CarPlay work, due to Apple’s hardware security protocol implementation.

That said, you can swap in many compatible CarPlay equipped apim and screens from other Ford models and it’s largely plug and play with a little programming needed. It’s fully documented here and I’m sure there are YouTube vids for a how to.

my car has CarPlay from a fiesta apim and a screen from a mustang.
