So I was in the instructions getting ready to install my JBR shift arm. As I was ready to start taking stuff apart, I got to the part about taking the sound symposer off. Interesting....my car doesn't have that hose!! It has the hose from the intake to the valve/device mounts on the side of the battery box. But then no hose from the top of the device to the firewall as shown in instructions. The most concerning part though is I can't for the life of me, find a place where the other end of a tube would connect to on the firewall. WTF. This valve is just open to atmosphere. Is that right....shouldn't there be a hose off the top of this? And anyone have pics of the firewall end?

Going to drive to take a look at one. But yea, there's nothing there to connect a hose to. And I don't even see where the other end would connect/attach to the firewall. Tough to get in there and take a picture.

Same situation with mine, a 2016 with an August 2016 build date. Exact same setup: Diaphragm thing on intake manifold, tube to electrically-controlled valve on battery box, and then no other tube, and no hole in the firewall. I asked the dealer about it, and they said it was a running change during the 2016 model year. Actually glad to see your post and pictures here; gives me more confidence in the veracity of what the dealer told me. FYI, I did the symposer delete, and got rid of this weird vestige of the symposer that we seem to have.

The 2015+ ecoboost mustang uses the radio for the added engine effect so it wouldn't surprise me if they went the same route on the ST. The way you can hear it on the mustang is if you have a cobb tuner and cycle through the map slots, the radio will make humming noises with increasing intensity in each of the map slots. See the video below.

So if this is normal for the model, then obviously there's no sound getting pumped into the car. I'm looking at a '15 right now and it has the tube to the firewall. Interesting my '16 firewall looks nothing like this. I'm sure there's no harm, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of having it? Now that valve on the batter box is touting sound to where...the engine compartment??? Makes no sense.

...my dealer does not know of any changes to this.
Galaxy, I was the Service Advisor you just talked with. He(Galaxy) is correct, there is no SSMs, TSBs, or anything referencing model changes. The workshop manual even shows this should still be there. I put a ticket into engineering to find out and I will update this thread tomorrow once I get a response.

Thanks.

Awesome dude...thank you!,

FYI...here a pic of my firewall. You can see he differnece. No insulation, and no hole. But, a flat spot probably where he hole should be. And it's plastic where the ones with the tube seems to be metal, best I could tell; insulation was in the way. Was not able to look at another '16.

galaxy7, I can confirm that mine looks just like that. As you say, different from any other depiction of this area in, e.g., videos of symposer delete installs, etc. What is the build date of your car? Mine is 8/22/16.
