Hey guys,

Doing a bit of searching around, trying to piece together the differences from the 2014 to the 2017, which should be available in the spring.

As a 2014 owner with MyTouch, you know my pain. I'm really more curious about the Car Play feature and/or how that plays out with Sync 3. Also, Sony 10 Speaker Sync3, or Sony "other" with Navigation? The navigation is ok on the MyTouch, as long as I pull over and find it first. But I'd love to be able to control Google Maps on my iPhone with the Car Play, particularly with Siri if possible.

If I get the Sony 10 speaker Sync3 and don't choose the navigation, does that mean there's no nav built-in at all?

Any other 2015/16 features that are going to blow my mind? How about the steering ratio, in particular lock-to-lock? It always felt kind of short to me, but assumed with the length and wheel diameter, that's as good as it gets.

Yes if you buy the car without navigation it will have zero navigation software built in and will rely on android auto or apple car play. Both systems are sync 3.

From what I understand the '15(which I have) still has the 1.8 lock to lock. I think the '16 it's like 2.5 lock to lock now but the turning radius is the same?(Someone please correct me if i'm wrong). The '17 I would assume is also the same as '16... also I'm not 100% but did they take away the symposer for '17 and replace it with the stupid "artificial" one that goes thru the speakers? I'm not sure but I thought that's what they did with the RS cuz I didn't see a symposer under the hood of the RS and I thought they did it like w/ the new fusions where it's all thru the speakers. I may be wrong about that too but you might want to look into those.

Not sure about the 2017 ST but yes, the RS has artificial sound piped through the speakers. It's one of the reasons Ford thought they could get away with the car being as quiet as it is.

EDIT: I don't think it's right to call the sound 'artificial'...Ford is just amplifying certain frequencies from the engine into the cabin via the speakers. From what RS people have been saying, it's not all that bad so it seems like it sounds better than the ST's Sound Symposer.

I've never had a problem with my 2013 ST, other than MyFord Touch which was fixed when they did the upgrade. Only two things I'd change... the mediocre Sony stereo (my old 2008 Chrysler Aspen sounds lots better) and the switch for the interior lights should be in the center where you can find them. Maybe that's just sunroof cars. I used to hate the Recaros, but I added some lumbar support and perhaps they broke in as well, or maybe I just got used to them. Ok, maybe a little more storage space for phones, keys etc. too.

Disconnected the Sound Symposer long ago. Don't miss it a bit. What a stupid idea that is.

I LOVE the quick ratio steering. I hope they didn't change that!

I, too, haven't had problem with my '13 ST3, either. One of the firs things I did was a complete audio overhaul and it's much more pleasant now.
