Dumb question but I am very new to the focus ST.

I currently have stock 18" wheels on my ST

I'm looking to get winter wheels+tires

wondering if these would fit the ST:

Blizzak WS80 Tires on Rims(4), 225/45R17
4NEW225X45X17 91Q GENERAL ALTIMAX ARCTIC STUDDED TIRES ON ALLOY BMW RI

Would going down to a 17" lower the car too much for winter?

Im coming from 10 years of owning a Xterra and before that a Subaru so I never had to deal with clearance issues.

thanks in advance

You need wheels with a 5x108 bolt pattern; I don't think the BMW wheels are going to work. Wheels from a 2012+Focus, Fusion, most Volvo's and Jaguar's will work if you are looking for used

Ok I will look for those..

thanks for the quick reply!!
The whole point of going with a smaller wheel diameter is to get a larger sidewall on the tire, not lower the car. If done properly, you shouldn't lose any clearance from your 18 inch wheels.

From the ST supplement that should of came with the car, (Also available here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...-ST-Supplement-version-1_st_EN-US_11_2014.pdf) here are their suggested tire sizes for winter:

235/40-18
235/45-17
215/50-17

You may also have the option for a 16inch size, depending on when your 2014 was manufactured. All of the options above will give you around the same total wheel size. (And thus clearance)

Also, as ddfred mentioned you need a certain bolt patter as well. You will need to find wheels with a 5x108 bolt pattern. The BMW wheels you posted above are 5x120 and will not fit.
Also keep in mind, that if you downsize to a 17" winter that they may not be able to clear some brake upgrades. I wish I went with 18" winters. That and most people slap winters on the stock rims, so finding used 18" winters is easier than 17" on this forum.
Thanks guys I ended up getting 215/50-17 from a 2013 focus.

thanks for the help, and the link to that PDF!
