So my friend Joe is in between jobs at the moment. (two car accidents in three wks) He's taking a bit of time off to recover, and he's been extremely bored. Joe is a mechanic and he's been working on engines since he was 12 or 13, anyways he purchased a dremel kit and got into the polishing mood (sick of watching TV and went into the garage)

He pulled up a chair and started going at it. This is just a minor polish, I mentioned a few rough spots that I noticed and few days later, bam pics started showing up. When I drop by, I want to learn how to do this.

here are some pics, more will come; tell us what you think.

That came out nice looking! I haven't had the opportunity to port an ecoboost head, but all other 4 cylinder heads I've ported seem to respond well to a little bit of bowl blending, unshrouding the valves and port matching the head to the manifold.

I started out with an air die grinder and some large and loud compressor from Home Depot. A few years ago I found this electric die grinder at Harbor Freight and haven't looked back! Wait until it's on sale or you have a 20% off coupon to pick one up. I've put some pretty heavy use on mine, and haven't yet had to replace or service it.

If your friend is looking to do a little more porting, I'd suggest picking up a porting kit from Summit and one decent oval carbide burr. The burr will last forever on aluminum heads, and the porting kit will give him enough cartridge rolls to last through a few heads and manifolds.

The exhaust port kills me....the rings on the pistons i found are bad design. the lip on the ring (piston rings) are on the bottom instead of the top, when force is put on those rings it bends them down, causing them to weaken and break.

Cleaned up the injectors today, one of many things to do this week.

Bought a 3/8 in brass plug for the pvc plate, as seen further up. I dont think i'll be using other port, we'll see. If anyone is familiar with the set up chime in.
