Ford and the Environmental Protection Agency have finalized the fuel economy numbers for the 2013 Ford Focus ST, and — depending on how you look at it — the ST achieves best-in-class miles to the gallon. The EPA’s final estimate is that the 2013 Focus ST will get 23 mpg city, 26 mpg combined, and 32 mpg highway. That’s much lower than the naturally aspirated 2012 Ford Focus, which gets 26 mpg city, 30 mpg combined, and 36 mpg highway. The Focus ST has a good reason for being less frugal. Actually it has 92 reasons: while the 2012 Focus makes 160 hp, the upcoming 2013 Focus ST makes 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Ford says the performance-oriented Focus ST will top out at 154 mph.
