Looks like there's a new contender out there. GTI engine in a Jetta, and it's got some nice features.
If they would've made a trim with AWD, I would've strongly considered one. I don't think it's the ugliest thing around, but I won't be getting another FWD vehicle so I'm not even looking at it anymore. However, it's nice that VW is expanding their sedans.
Interesting move by VW...is this a move trying to compete with the likes of the Accord Sport and similarly classed sedans?

I just am not a fan of the look of the Jetta's, even the GLI trim. It is extremely vanilla IMO.

VW has made GLIs off and on for a long time. It's a sedan offshoot of the GTI. I think they're nice. I also think the new Accord Sports are nice. But its a sedan and looks like almost any rental car out there after awhile.
I am somewhat impressed with the new GLI. It seems to be the best deal out there in a sport sedan for around $26k. 6sp manual✓ Turbo 4cyl that's highly tunable✓ LSD✓ Good factory brakes and handling✓ Build quality✓ Well equipped base model✓ Sporty looks ok maybe not so much......... My Sister has a 2017 Jetta 1.8 Sport and with a manual and loves it.
