    ST Suspensions ST X or Megan Racing EZ Street Coil overs

    At a crossroad here peeps and need some real world advice - I drive the car in the mountains a good bit and don't auto x or track it.

    Have to replace my shocks, and am on a budget. Title says it all, just need something that will last (wanted the B14 PSS's but no one has them in stock and it has been this way since 12/2018). Amazon has these at real reasonable prices 800.00 and 745.00 respectively. Please only respond if you have actual real world experience with either of these Models on our cars (The FOCUS ST).

    Im just wondering how we got into a situation of comparing utter generic garbage, to a tried and true german brand with TUV/ISO certification. That also isn't made from recycled Soup cans in Asia..

    Because Bilstein has been unobtainium for the FoST for at least the past year if you want a full set.

    No. Megan vs ST. Bilstein is just whatever. I have B8's, they are okay. I have had better luck when it comes to support from Koni. But I don't care for the Koni adjustment system with no detents or clicks.

    ST is owned by KW Suspension. The ST X coilovers are essentially v1's without the life time warranty and fancy steel body. The XTA is a v2, with rebound adjustment.
    Think of them as the budget edition of KW coilovers.

    So to compare Megan to ST is just asinine.

    The XTA is more like the KW V3. The V2 equivalent would be the XA. Which is, like the V2, not available for the Focus ST.
    ST and KW are produced under the same roof here in Germany, only major difference is that the ST ones aren't made from stainless steel but zinc plated steel. On the other hand, the ST XTA comes in at $1200 while the KW V3 is at least $1950 around here.

    Idk how it is in the U.S. but in Europe, KW is usually considered superior to Bilstein / Eibach (Springs for Bilstein suspensions are made by Eibach).
    In terms of ride quality, this applies to ST too. So it is KW > ST > Bilstein > H&R.
    The only real downside regarding the ST is that you have to wax them when you install them and check on them once a year and replace the wax if necessary. Unless you want them to rust away during winter of course.

    I'm apparently late to the thread Travis, haha. But I've had the ST-Xs for a little over a year now, and I'm not completely happy with them. They're not terrible, but I don't necessarily like the ride quality either. I do feel like the car handles better with them versus my previous setup which was Eibach Pro Kit springs on OEM shocks/struts, but the ride is a bit more bouncy. I may try to replace them with something else eventually.

    Not to split hairs

    But the XT is height adjustable
    The XTA is height and rebound adjustable

    From KW, the v1 is height adjustable
    The v2 is height and rebound adjustable
    The v3 is height, rebound and compression adjustable.

    Thus:
    v1 = XT
    v2 = XTA
    v3 = ř <-There are no equivalent ST Suspension coils to KW in this line.
