PSA: Check the Pin on Your Shifter Every Now and Then

While installing my aux fuel, I had my intake off and my jaw dropped when I saw the pin that holds the part of the shifter you put the short shift plate on.

It was just a few mm's from falling out. If it wasn't for installing the aux fuel, I would have had a very bad day at some point! I'd say it's worth checking every oil change or two. I haven't looked at mine since installing it a couple summers ago.

Psh. You don't need that. Half of us have the shift arm pin delete mod. Some of us have noticed mild drivability issues.

Bumping this. While changing my plugs, I noticed that pin was hanging out again. Bumped it back in again.

Change the shift arm, or at least to a bolt like on my Breedt arm. It comes with a locking nut but I applied a drop of blue Loctite to boot. I don't intend to remove the arm while I own the car.

Changing it out to a bolt with some loctite sounds like the perfect solution. I'll have to do that at some point.

My buddy's 13 was doing this with a Cobb plate on it. Got a stainless bolt plus washers and nut. Fairly simple fix.

Just happened to me. Except I didnt catch it in time. Lost all gears, was a ****ty feeling not knowing what it was initially. Thankfully an easy fix. I'm thinking about doing that bolt fix too.

I was thinking this too, while at the same time thinking, "I had to pound mine with a hammer for 30 minutes to get it out. It was a PITA! And there's just falls out?"

From @[email protected] : You want to pick up a 6mm x 1.0 bolt that is 45mm long. A couple of 6mm flat washers to go on either side and a nylon lock nut This will solve the problem you're having.

I've been meaning to pick up the bolt. I'm so lazy lol.
