    Mystery button on obd port

Hey everybody. I've been scratching my head trying to figure out what this button is for. I bought this car used from a dealership. I assumed it was bone stock as I could not see anything externally modded on it but this button is making me second guess that. The way this button is screwed into the obd port door makes me pretty sure it's aftermarket. Any ideas what this might be?

Definitely aftermarket. Not sure what it’s used for maybe throttle mapping.

you'd have to dig in and trace the wires to see what they are hooked up to

Yeah it's got me stumped. That's an interesting theory with the remote kill switch thing. I would find it suprising if they made it that visible though. Of that's the case you better believe it'll get ripped out of there haha. My brief look in there just showed the wires going up behind the dash so I may need to take a few things apart this weekend to look around in there.

Here's what I don't understand, these must only be used used car lots. Because when I bought my ST from Koons in Baltimore it was strictly stated on the sales receipt that the dealer would not have installed any parts after the car left the manufactureing plant and that anything added would have to be noted and I had to sign that as well as the lot rep. Secondly I wasn't really pushed to buy a bunch of other stuff by the F and I guy in Koons, he asked me if I wanted the paint protection which is a ceramic coating thing and I understand asking that your buying a 30k+ car, and he asked me if I wanted to purchase the Ford Extended warranty not a third party warranty. Obviously since the standard bumper to bumper is only 36k or 3 yrs, he sold me the Ford Extended plan for the price of the car, meaning he threw it in on the deal. So I was happy to hear about that sales pitch. 7 yrs 100k miles, and even though it may not always work for engine work because of my mods, there is alot of other expensive **** on this car that will be covered by it. Sorry if I derailed the post at all...I clicked on the link people posted about these alarm boxes and dealers.

Yeah it would be more so on a used car and from a lot/dealer that deals with customers who probably have less than ideal credit. The disclosing part probably varies by state though. I do know, i would not knowingly buy a car with something like that installed and would be angry if i found something that could potentially shut my car off remotely or track its whereabouts
