    Intercooler mounting location

I purchased the COBB intercooler kit. After the install i decided to remove the lower grille, this is when I noticed the huge gap between the intercooler and the bumper . It doesn't look too bad looking at the car head on but from the side all you see is a empty space. So, my question to everyone here is, do y'all know of anyway to move the core closer to the bumper and not have this huge space? Any help is appreciated.

The issue is you also want your intercooler close to the radiator so the air is forced through both. you don't want a big dead space between your intercooler and your radiator.

So there is no way to get rid of the space in front of the intercooler. Except to buy a bigger core?

I would think so. Unless you just move your core forward which shouldn't be an issue you'll just need probably some extensions on your charge pipes. But then I would want to seal up the sides of the intercooler to the radiator so that the air goes through the intercooler can't escape without going through the radiator. I would use the space in front of the intercooler for some deflectors /ducting to force the air through the inner core

You would most likely cause a cooling issue on the radiator since the air would have space to swirl around and not flow straight through which is what you want. There is a reason there is not a lot of space between all the cooling bits. Hot air building up between the units is not going to help the cooling of the radiator that sits behind the FMIC. I am sure an Engineer could tell you the exact reasons.

I must have accidentally hit the reply with quote button instead of the reply button. Just lazy and not scrolling down to the quick reply box.
