Lightbulb TR3 Focus ST Turbo Kit

Hey guys we are in development of a aftermarket turbo kit for the Focus ST!

We've come to the conclusion (which im sure most of you have aswell) that the stock turbo is just too small and restrictive to support much over 250hp+. So we are designing our own turbo kit to give ST the power that the stock turbo cannot deliver. We are still currently in the early stages of mocking up the turbo, and beginning to fabricate a custom manifold to accommodate the new turbo. I will update this thread with more progress as the build goes, i just wanted to let you know what we have in the works for you guys for the future to look forward to, to those that are looking to make some more HP/TQ. When its all said and done we will offer this as a turbo kit package deal and offer it to the public.

We are shooting for about 320hp/300tq while still keeping the turbo spool quick and virtual no turbo lag.

Please let me know what you guys think of this idea and if you would be interested.

As always questions, comments, concerns, are always welcomed!

Are those numbers at the wheels? The torque number seems low. The car will already get that much torque to the wheels with just a tune.

Please skip the custom manifold. That is just an un-necessary added expense.

Just release an upgraded turbo that can be bolted in.

Since the manifold is cast as part of the head they will probably be making an adapter.

    In for updates.

I agree that the torque will probably be higher. But a larger turbo won't start spooling as low as the stocker does. So the initial torque that the turbo offers at full boost around 2500rpm may not be possible with the upgraded turbo.

I think the stocker can acheive near full boost in the 2200rpm range. Could always test by putting the car in 6th gear around 1800rpm and going full throttle to see at what RPM the turbo actually achieves full boost.

What turbo do you plan on using? Ball bearing?

X2 on no intake manifold - did you mean exhaust adaptor?

Yes we have a in-house tuner who tunes SCT or COBB AP

I am undershooting the torque as i myself am curious to see how much tq it will make aswell, but right now the stock ST turbo is spikeing boost to create that tq but falls flat on its face as the rpms climb, so the larger turbo should be able to pick up and then some where the stock turbo would normally fall off. It will probably make past 300tq easily, but with the tq a ST makes now and the gained hp will make a world of a difference.

Should still fit most aftermarket intake systems, that will be something to test later into the process

We are strongly considering the GT28R, yes a dual ball bearing turbo

X2 on no intake manifold - did you mean exhaust adaptor?
I meant the exhaust manifold adapter as the new turbo has a different flange then the stock ST turbo

They offer a upgraded stock ST turbo by changing the compressor/turbine wheels out for larger ones, which we have thought of doing aswell, but it still wont get the ST into the 300hp/300tq+ range which we are shooting for
